Bama TE Miles Kitselman commits to Vols

I applaud any attempt to improve our passing game. I thought we had TE's last year but just never used them. I say welcome aboard.
We did have TEs last year Castles and Warren are gone now. TE was arguably one of our biggest needs this off season now it’s a strength imo. If they land Pearce at OT they’ve upgraded WR, TE, and OT. I think we’ve also upgraded the secondary but we’re going to be very young there.

They made a great hire. There will be no drop off. Sucks.
Maybe, maybe not. Different era now and a different man at the helm. What are the odds they catch lightning in a bottle twice in a row? My BVS says it'll be more of the same, but my logical side says not likely. One thing I know - they won't screw up as bad and for as long as the Vols did.

They’ll have different roles. He’ll earn his keep…and then some. Also you’re comparing what Saban asked of Rees to what Heupel draws up for his players.
If he’s good enough for Nick, he’s good enough for ANYONE else! This is a huge get! Is he going to be Jason Witten? Probably not, but for all the bitchin’ and Vol Nation panties in a wad about the O Line, this an under the radar, but significant move!

You don’t “know” that! They screwed up as bad before! Can Daboer coach? Sure! Lots of excellent coaches around! However coaching at Bama, and/or in SEC is vastly different! How quickly everybody forgot what’s his face at Auburn? They’re both thought he was going to be a home run hire! He last what, 15 months?

This was for depth purposes. Supposed to be a good blocker as well.
This ^^^ the biggest potential speed bump to the Vols offense in 2024 is insufficient blocking We’ve got our thoroughbreds at the skill positions. But it all counts for nothing if we don’t carry out blocking assignments with great efficiency.

Not saying he’s another Saban by any means, but he’s definitely better than the three stooges we went through before Heupel. Sorry but still bitter about each one of those hires.

Are we going to start throwing to the TE? I've never understood or liked the fact that Heupel doesn't seem to want to throw to the TE, because
we almost never do it. Why, I can't say--it seems bizarre, but almost all really good offenses heavily feature their tight ends--college and pro.

I think Nico’s only TD pass in the bowl was to Castles a TE so maybe that’s a sign of things to come.

I'd love to see some variety , anything besides the run up the middle, sideline dump pass for 60 minutes. If I know what's coming, you can bet opposing defenses do also
JH has used the TE in passing situation somewhat. I have the feeling we'll see more and more next season

I am very interested in how the Cultural fit will be with DeBoer. Can he Recruit in the South? Harsin vibes,in a way…

I was excited initially until I did some research.....0 catches in 2023? 3 in 2022? What the heck? Why does this merit a thread? I mean if he was coming from anywhere but Bama I doubt it would even register on the radar

No drop off? So DeBoer going to win several national titles then? I think anyone is going to be a drop off from Saban.
Saban built an empire there. A great coach will keep Bama in contention. A decent coach will still have them winning 9/10+. It would take an atrocious hire of an idiot to send them spiraling as we did for 15 years. That’s the truth whether the sunshine gang likes it or not. Time will tell.

Yeah, Vols committed the cardinal sin of not having any idea who to hire when they fired coaches. Schools shouldn't let a coach go unless they got someone better to replace him with. Other schools have wandered around in the wilderness = Texas/ Texas AM/ Florida.

Y’all don’t know, but this guy can catch the football, quick in running routes, and can block.
