The fact that they have a home and home with the Duke Blue devils in FOOTBALL speaks volumes as to just how far they have fallen. I love it!   :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

LOL

Not for home-homes. We'll let you know how UAB is since UAT is too afraid to play them. Suuuuurreeee you're wanting to play Duke in basketball. Give me a break.

They must want to go play at Duke because Duke's facilities are named for the FATHER of the Alabama program.

What a joke. Yeah... if I'm being recruited by Bama, I really want to go play AT Duke...

Keep it up Bammers and your program will go down the toilet further than it already has.

Are we about to have a UAB fan and a Bama fan get into a brawl on a Vols board?!

Success would be wins or recent milestones right?

Like going to your first bowl game... and which team had more wins last year?

Well, I'm with Blazer on this one. Hey Blazer, looks like 2 of my boys are starting in your offensive backfield. Burks and Huey....are they still in the 1 spot on the depth chart?

But TWELVE . . . If that happened, you guys would actually have to play them rather than just talking about all the reasons that you won't.

Burks is a definite starter... pretty sure about Hughey too. Our RBs (Burks and White) arent often listed as first string-second string because they're both used fairly equally. Burks has traditionally been the quicker of the backs, so he'll start the game and use his speed in the beginning. Later in the game, White would be brought in to pound the ball. Traditionally, UAB hasnt used the FB as ball-carrier often at all, but I think Hughey has the talent to be used as a ball-carrier on occasion.

In reality, this is quite a significant incident.

I know this thread was started as a way to blast the foe to the South, but this deal makes a significant statement about the state of Alabama Football.

We have played Duke on several occasions and as far as I remember we've never played them AT Duke. I know we've played them at least a half dozen times since the early 70s and every game was in Neyland.

This does speak the the pecking order of just where you stand in the all important world of College Football Etiquette.

I remember the days when Alabama could demand home and away series with the most elite of college football. Oklahoma, Penn St., and then in turn they could demand home and home series with all of the mid-majors or lower rung major conference teams.

As much as Bama fans will hate to admit this, it is a sign of just how far the mighty have fallen.

Another sign is they now pay their basketball coach more then their football coach. Who would have ever imagined that possible as long as the planet turns.

The question is why will Bama schedule Duke but are too scared to schedule UAB.

Let's not leave Auburn out of this since they'll schedule The Citadel but are too COWARDLY to schedule UAB or Troy

Yeah, and UAB wouldnt even demand a home game. That would, of course, be better, but if they offered a deal that would just be played in Tuscaloosa, UAB would still accept. Bammers will be essentially killing themselves. They're getting a "rent-o-win" out of it to help their bowl chances, but in the event they should get lucky and win 10-12 games, beating teams like Duke, Utah St, Western Carolina, etc will keep them out of the national title game. Oh well... fine by me if they continue to set their program back.

Blazer, Falany was the back-up QB last year. Is he still in line behind Hackney? The latest depth chart doesn't list him. What's the deal?

I love reading Alabama fans responses to this...."We just want to go to other places" and so forth...

BS....

Lower level teams dont want to go to Alabama without a return game

Bammers have always comeup with one excuse or another as to why they don't have to play UAB. Each one as pathetic as the next. The beauty of this thread is that while my heart belongs to the Vols my degree came from UAB.
I love it. Anyone else notice how GOT FIVEHUNDRED got all quiet?

On a side note: The Tidefans.com gestapo would have banned all of us by now, by username, I.P. & subnet.

I assume he is still. I went to the scrimmage today at UAB and both Chris Williams and Curtis Falany got quite a few reps. I dont think we'll need a backup  but should we need one, I think Falany would take over.

sorry guys, after sitting around and thinking about the situation, i realize you guys are right. bama has fallen in many ways and there is no need for me to sit here and say they havent. i am embaressed that we scheduled duke, but i wont complain because its a sure win. everyone plays cupcakes and ut, and uab are no exceptions. one day i hope we are able to schedule top tier teams again, but we are trying to rebuild here. what is ut's non-con schedule for 06-07? yeah, its about as embarassing as ours. i guess after its all said and done, the AD knows what he is doing. well i am going to hide under my rock again while the real powerhouses of football take over. :peace:
