Boy, you really nailed it with that post.  Sadly, the sidewalk alumni is always worse than the real thing.  (And I should know since I am one myself.)

The vast majority of the side-walk alumni are above all of this garbage as well.

What I suppose I was thinking was just look at the majority of the posts on the Internet that do nothing but stir the kettle.

It doesn't take an investigative team to determine most of them are Redneck to the core.

Now, don't tell me you're a redneck too. :p

I have to admit that this has been one of the most enjoyable threads I've read in a while. A Blazer and Bammer going at it (with the Blazer coming out on top), a nice account of the old rivalry between UT and UA, Bama playing AT Dookie, and. . . . OldVol admitting that he actually LIKES Alabama??? I was following along until that -- I actually gagged on coffee and now have a java stain on my shirt.

As far as the Duke series goes, maybe Tuscalooser is betting that after Augusta withholds a membership offer in 2006, Spurrier will be back in Blue and White?

not good

Well their defense had 8 sacks in their scrimmage. That's either a pretty dominant front 7 or a weak OL.

our line is the weakest leak. hopefully they will be ready to play in two weeks or we are toast. granted we have alot better d's than alot of schools, our ol has to hold up.

Otherwise the same thing as last year will happen again. Great D with nothing to show for it.

yeah, but last year we had a line with no qb, now we have a qb with no line. :cross:

we have a line, they are just not as talented as last year. we should be fine. our offense will be quick.

I sure hope that Brodie does not get hurt. I never want a kid to get hurt I don't care who he plays for. But BC deserves to finish his SR year. He is a quality kid from a quality family but he has the worst luck (next to Simon maybe). 12 your Oline better be good as BC is not that fast and with a front 7 like we have it could be a VERY long day. I think the emotion of the game will help Bammer in the beginning but we will wear you out and roll over you like a mack truck.

12 I have to tell you that the team I "hate" the most without a doubt is Bammer. Most of the bammer fans that I have been and am associated with are way out there. But you seem to have you feet planted. I for one am glad to have you at the nation.
But I still want to kick ya'lls butt! :nener:

You too. Bama is my underdog to win the SEC West, because:

A) It means we get to beat you twice in a year and

B) It seems like at least 1/3 of the LSU fanbase is already sold on going undefeated

I've always been a huge fan of Bama. They've always been my 2nd team after the Vols, but all the nasty stuff has really hurt.

I'd like to see the ugly stuff put away and the respect restored like it should be.

It's only a few media swine like Finebaum, greedy lawyers like Gallion, and idiots on the Internet from both fan pools that has turned the rivalry nasty. Most of the better educated fans still respect each other.

Regards,

I can't agree more. I remember being quite young and growing up on Tennessee football (difficult to accomplish in San Diego, California) and being in the midst of quite a few lost games in a row to Bama. Being young and naive, I saw how badly my father wanted UT to win, and so I hated Bama with all my heart. The turning point in all this was when I was 9, and I watched the 93 Sugar Bowl (for the 1992 season) with my dad and the rest of his family on our annual Christmas excursion to Knoxville. The first time Bama scored I got all mad, but all the adults were celebrating, and I said to my dad "I thought we hated Bama..."

He turned to me and he said "We only hate them when they are playing us. We want them to beat everybody else."

Now, I can hate all the ignorant fans that exist in the Alabama nation, just like the ones that exist in the Vol nation (not a reference to this site in particular mind you), but Alabama has had a strong football tradition, and it is sad any time something like that is lost.

I hope this is a turnaround year for Alabama too, just not against us.

I have trouble going quite that far. 'Course, I'm going to guess the feeling is mutual. I doubt that there are any plans in Tuscaloosa to erect a Phil Fulmer statue, and Rocky Top probably gets very little airplay. :whistling:
