CZ 75B or BD 9mm in large frame with extended mags/M&P Shield or equivalent sized Glock for medium frame carry. Shoot good ammo if you are carrying. High quality reloads if you are plinking. Unless you are good, accuracy will suffer with a revolver. Keep ALL of them clean and lubricated and you shouldn't have problems with any of them.

Rule #1, shoot your gun so you know how your gun shoots!
Rule #2, keep it clean and protected
Rule #3, shoot good ammo for personal protection

That's my 2 cents worth. I have a Revolver but it's big enough to put optics on and shoot from a tree stand which I plan on doing in the future.

Revolver’s are like dudes & semi’s are like ladies. Revolver’s require little attention & will always bark here & bite there without fail. Semi on the other hand requires more attention, pampering & sometimes can be stubborn. Have both & don’t mind the attention & pampering the ladies require

Thanks, @82_VOL_83. I've heard the argument that semiautomatic pistols have more parts which are susceptible to damage, and that revolvers are essentially "clumsy-idiot proof." An old farmer in Prattville, AL (long story) advised me, "Get a revolver. As long as there's ammo, you'll have a pistol that shoots."

You put it better than the old redneck Alabama farmer.

I have shot revolvers, most recently a medium frame .38 (old standard police issue). I have no problem with weight or anything else mentioned about revolvers.

I have shot a 1911 semiautomatic pistol. Nothing smaller or lighter.

To be fair, I'm a shotgun guy. I've shot a number of rifles, but I own shotguns.

The very first long rifle that I ever fired was a model 70 bolt-action 30.06. The very first shotgun I ever fired was a 12 gauge side-by-side. The very first pistol that I ever fired was a S&W N-frame frame .357 magnum revolver. When these set your expectations, well... I think you grasp my perspective.

The pistols I'm drawn towards today are the Ruger revolvers, like the Service Six or Security Six. Honestly, I'll drag my missus to the gun range and have her fire the equivalents to what I'm leaning towards, feel assured she could handle the pistol if she had to do so (She doesn't want a pistol, but understands the wisdom of her being able to load and fire mine).

I like Ruger.
Me too.
I’m a Ruger guy.
Got the shield to replace the full size Ruger I may or may not have been carrying. That lasted 2 days. I don’t like the way it feels in my hand. Went back to the Ruger 380. Then got the lcp2 (that Red now has). It’s also uncomfortable because it’s small. I think I’ll probably keep the Security 9 for a while. The shield is now my oldest sons gun. Hypothetically.

Nice pickup & great reviews. Was interested but nothing for the lefty. Looks like the mag drop might switch over but can’t do anything with the safety. Naturally right handed but have always shot left handed.
I like that it has a real safety and the location works good for me too.
Very pleased so far. And I bought it for 275$ on sale.
Can’t believe how inexpensive this gun is.
