Barnes Calling Players out...

Barnes has always called out players publicly... Calling out Chaz about what he's "paid" to do crossed the line... Coaches get paid a lot... Players seem to play too tight with Barnes.... It's his style but maybe the reason he can't make it to the top... Just coach and let the kids play... No need for added pressure with pay talk... No coach has ever brought that up with players even in professional sports
The moment players started getting paid, they became free game for criticism. If you don’t want accountability, don’t demand cash.

Had he been feeling snarky, Chaz might have responded to Rick that he also wasn't achieving the results he was being paid to achieve, i.e. getting his team to the Final Four (and beyond), something several other coaches in Barnes' pay range have managed to do. Exceptional pay demands exceptional results.
We did not pay Barnes because we demand Final Fours. It’s silly to try to make something the standard that your program has never done.

We paid him because we were about to lose him to a better job and we didn’t want that to happen. That’s it.

I could not disagree with you more !!! They want the $$$$?? Well, production and execution come with the territory!!! We are ALL held accountable at our jobs. These are not kids. Especially Lanier. He is a grown man who is NOT giving us what we PAID for. If he is that weak mentally, well, good luck to ya my man cause pro basketball is watching all this. Oh well, #4 seed here we come........I hope.

Barnes spends everyday with Chaz. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say he has more insight on how to get him to perform than you
Sometimes it's best to just keep it simple. Don't put a bunch of suggestions into an already spinning head. Just tell him to relax and have fun. It is, after all, a game....and one that he loves to play I'd assume.

It’s part of the coaches’ jobs to correct, motivate, teach players. Calling them out publicly is a tactic and I have no doubt that when it happens it’s carefully thought out ahead of time by top level coaches.

I'm not really a fan of coaches calling out players and giving the media scum something to drum up clicks and views and make more of it than what it is, but I do agree with this. I'd rather this kind of stuff is kept in house, but the good coaches know how to press their players' buttons, and how best to motivate them, and Barnes is as good as there is.

It's always been done. Weak minds fall into the trap of listening to social media know-nothings and you get trash after the handful of losses we have each year

Crossed what line? The kid is now getting paid to play. It is now apparently a “job”. Either do your “job” or expect criticism. You can’t have it both ways. You are no longer a kid playing a game, don’t have to coddle you and baby you any longer. You want to get paid. DO YOUR DAMN JOB

When they start reporting to gym at 7 and are there till 4 working on their game you can call it a job. Until then, which is the way professional sports work, it's not really a "job"

when I worked a krogers in high school, I called it a “job”. Didn’t realize that was reserved for people who got 40 hours a week and worked regular hours.

Yes, said he turned down some open shots in the first half is why he pulled him. Then in the second half, he went toward a more defensive of lineup to try and get stops.
How about Cade, did he mention why he didn’t get more minutes in the 2nd half? It looked to me like he hit the doghouse in the 1st. But the way they painted our backside near the basket in the 2, I would have liked to see more contest and besides Felix and Igor, he’s it rt now.

Yeah, I know that. I stopped watching or listening to any pre- or post game, or in between game media more than 20 years ago. I just detest the media. Sadly, too many buy into the garbage, and we see the result on here after every loss.

I didn’t see anything on Cade. I would guess it would go toward having more size with Igor and Felix for rebounding and rim protection. Even tho wasn’t much to it yesterday. Too much trying to block the ball instead of boxing out the dude on backside of the rim.
