I can't wait until he plays 5-7 + mins straight and shows out. Sure he'll make some mistakes but the kid looks like a player. We currently do not have a PG with any confidence. Hopefully Vescovi is an alpha male. Can’t wait for all the dumb takes on here calling SV a bust when he doesn’t immediately average 15 points and 7 assists.
Pretty sad the roster is in this place in year 5.I’m sure they would like to; however with 8 on the roster, and half being true freshman themselves......he will play.....simply because of need.
He's on the Roster with:
Must await standard NCAA and SEC clearance protocols before becoming eligible to compete in games.
Any bets on whether he's cleared Thursday or by Saturday?

Sure, Bone, blah, blah, Grant, blah, blah.
This team isn’t where it is because Bone unexpectedly left. It’s because of recruiting efforts like Walker, Kent, And Burns plus a few others that are on the roster now.

Reasonable, but unfortunately, your target is an unreasonable poster with an agenda.I understand it’s probably going to be hard to string together great recruiting classes (at a place like Tennessee) until recruits can see the progress and can see the overall plan.
Tennessee wasn’t in good shape when Barnes got here. He found some really good players in those early years......but those type players took tome to develop.
Now we can all see recruiting progress in this years recruits and next......and most likely, to come.
Tennessee got James because of success and probably some of the other guys too.....however several of the “other guys” needed time to develop. Now via success Tennessee is hitting on a lot of guys, and development years should become less frequent, and even less painful (when they arrive).
You want to moan and complain when some recruits don’t “hit” or work out; however some recruits did hit and some did work out.
When you have to recruit 3 stars many of them won’t work out (Walker didn’t work out....Pons is working out).
For the 2019 season Tennessee had 2 players leave early, 2 players transfer, one player quit, one leave via injury and one not become eligible.....no way to recruit 17/18 for that as there is simply not enough roster room.
It’s simply not “normal” to lose out on 7 players in one season......no “recruiting” can make up for this as it’s an anomaly. Teams lose players all the time via ways Tennessee lost players.....but not all of them. This hasn’t happened before (with Barnes here) and it won’t happen again.
I’m sure Barnes would have liked to get 4 five star recruits in 17.......but that wasn’t going to happen......not at Tennessee with 3 years of .500 or worse. I’m also sure he would have liked to keep a few of those players who are gone.........some things are beyond a persons control.
Sure Barnes could have landed someone besides Walker (or whoever)......would that person have worked out? Who knows.....we’re not talking about high 4 stars or 5 stars.
You don’t like Barnes......we all get that, but the only reason you can complain is because Barnes has brought success back to Tennessee.
Your criticism would be a lot more valid if we didn’t have the best recruiting class in our history coming in next year. Add Plavsic , Bailey and Vescovi to the 3 studs coming in and we have a great future. This year will be down and nobody likes that but don’t act like the program is a dumpster girePretty sad the roster is in this place in year 5.

Both stand on their own. Good recruiting now doesn’t excuse the lack in the past couple of years. The class coming in next year is awesome and I’ve stated as much.Your criticism would be a lot more valid if we didn’t have the best recruiting class in our history coming in next year. His "criticism" would also be a lot more valid if it had just a modicum of objectivity. We all now know that the 2017 and 2018 classes yielded only 1 viable player (Pons) for this program which is obviously a major issue. CRB clearly owns that result but to ignore certain stark realities is simply foolish. The cupboard was pretty bare for CRB coming in so his first 2 years yielded records of 15-19 then 16-16 respectively - not exactly a compelling case to make with recruits heading into the 2017 and 2018 classes which are central to this discussion (and, yes, the 2017 season was a "success" but too late for 2020 early signees and probably too little for those who remained in the regular signing period).
Therefore, CRB was largely left with prospecting to find diamonds in the rough which fit his program as he had in the past (and I believe CRB soundly beat the odds given Turner, Schofield, Alexander, Fulkerson, Bowden, Grant, and Bone). Combine the probabilities of this strategy with CRB's player development (which led to both Grant and Bone leaving early making CRB a victim of his own success), NCAA "potluck" (Plavsic), as well as injuries (Turner and Kent) and you have a near perfect storm.
But, these facts are lost on some and it is much easier to insinuate that the current situation is because CRB did not give the "effort" (lazy, incompetent, etc...) which is laughable (and I have been laughing a lot as I peruse VN) to any who knows anything about recruiting in general but specifically what we do know about CRB and his approach to creating a specific culture/style here at UT which requires MORE, not less, effort when recruiting.
