In 21 seasons, General Robert Reese Neyland never lost to Kentucky.

In his 4 seasons while Neyland was off to war, John Barnhill never lost to them.

In 16 seasons, Philip Fulmer never did, either.

My money says Josh Heupel has an excellent shot at never losing to the Kittens. And I hope he's our head coach another 40 years.

Why do I list those four fellas? Because they are perhaps the best four head coaches in our program's history. Too early to be sure of Josh, but he's off to a helluva start.

And the point is, when we have a great coach, we don't lose to Kentucky in football.

Even Butch Jones only lost to them once, out of five seasons. And we know Butch Jones is no rocket surgeon of a coach.

Go Vols!

Surprised the A to Z guy hasn't written an article about this yet. "A national CFB analyst shuns and disrespects Tennessee by picking a fierce rival to beat them." Now click here to read about it so I get paid and please repost this on message boards so I get more clicks. The more "controversy" the better.

The offseason click bait articles never fail........
You mean Matt Ray? LOL

We’re getting mad at a guy who gets paid to make predictions about who will win ball games making predictions against our team. I’ve never understood it. Sallee has actually been my favorite of those types and I’ve always thought he was pretty fair and level headed co venting UT.

I got us at 11-1, Milton shines but if he doesn’t expect Nico to take over CFB a year earlier than expected. Jaylen Wright and Cam goes balls deep on the SEC. Bru McCoy goes full on Ced Tillman, and defense surprises people.

He's really not bad and if you think 9.5 wins is disrespectful, it's very realistic. I'm hoping for 15-0, but we won double digit games for the first time since 2007. Let's not act like we have been unstoppable for years. Just being realistic.
If you think it "crazy" for real, bet the over.
But the point the op is making is that given our recent history with Kentucky, there's just no reason for anyone who knows anything about football to pick them against us. Look what we did to them last year.

Here’s the deal and you may know this but chances are you lose a game you shouldn’t over the course of the season (see South Carolina). Even if you have a 90% chance to win each Saturday (outside of UGA and UA). You’d only have roughly a 20% chance of going undefeated in the rest of your games aka you lose to someone you probably shouldn’t
Here's the deal and you may know this, but none of that horse $hit applies in seasons when Tennessee has even just an average team, and they are playing Kentucky.

Once again, Kentucky has not beaten a Tennessee team which finished the season with a winning record since 1984. As a matter of fact, in 2 of Kentucky's 3 wins over Tennessee since 1985, Tennessee was on the verge of firing their head coach ... and would end up firing him either before or just after the end of the season (Jones in 2017 and Pruitt in 2020). The point being ... Kentucky can only beat Tennessee when Tennessee is very bad. That will not be the case with Tennessee in 2023.

Tennessee is 35-3 vs Kentucky since 1985.
Tennessee is 51-7 vs Kentucky since 1965.

This is the most lopsided series played in the SEC on an annual basis since 1965.

It's not happening for Kentucky in 2023 ... Sorry, guys!

I disagree. It does matter when it's Tennessee vs Kentucky.

In ways that Florida was in our player's heads from 2005-2021 ... that is what Tennessee does to Kentucky. They play with no confidence. They are coached scared and that is how they play. In any other series, I might agree with your general sentiment, but not in this one.

It's in the fans head. Not the players. Most are around for 4 years.

I disagree with that too ... There have been years under Stoops when they should have been able to beat Tennessee, such as in 2018, and even 2019 and 2021 when they were at home ... They played tentative and scared.

That 2018 game still kills me ... Kentucky finished 10-3. Tennessee finished 5-7. Tennessee won 24-7. Kentucky looked tight from start to finish. Don't tell me that the past results didn't play a role in that. Sometimes ... history matters. We are in their heads.

And in 2018 how much better was our 4 year average recruiting ranking? We have always been more talented. It's not a we are in their head issue. It's a we are way over talented compared to them. Even in **** seasons talent will win

If that was true, then we wouldn't have lost to Vanderbilt in 2018. They didn't recruit as well as Kentucky under Derek Mason.

... Vanderbilt also beat Tennessee in 2012, 2013, 2016 and 2017. They've been far more competitive with Tennessee since 2005, than Kentucky has been. That's a fact. No, it isn't just about talent ... We are in their heads. They played scared vs Tennessee,

... but it is not realistic to pick Kentucky to beat Tennessee ... what could that possibly be based on other than a biased perspective? They could only muster 6 points against us last season with Levis at QB.
Yeah, wonder how Vrabel and the Titans gonna like Levis' 6 points a game, lol

Not when it comes to Kentucky beating Tennessee they don't.

Only when Tennessee is really bad ... as in 5 wins or less bad, does Kentucky ever win. The last time that Kentucky beat a Tennessee team which finished the season with a winning record was in 1984. It's a ridiculous prediction.
There have been plenty of unexpected outcomes to sporting events. That's why they're played. I don't take the prediction personally; that's just his prediction and it's not a swipe at us.

UK is trending off. Stoops reminds me of Fulmer at the end. He has had enough success that he thinks he just needs to "tweak" what he's doing to get over the top. Fulmer's famous line was something like, "We've won a lot of games around here doing what we're doing so we ain't changin' now." Stoops is kind of the same.... without as much talent.

USCe has enough talent to be the next level threat. If A&M gets their act together then they could be dangerous.

This statement of mindset is the epitome of an inept and ineffectual leader when it comes to making adjustments for continued success.

It is very sad for we as Vol fans to have witnessed the downfall of our football program.

He seemingly did try and change with the "Clawfence" but didn't have the right athletes in place to make the change successfully and so quickly.

We still got "98!

Ky plays us on the best spot on the schedule, after Alabama & they’re off that week.

We made an arse of Will Levis. That was so amazing to watch and the butthurt on his face throughout the game was glorious

I hope Will Levis continues to improve his production and body/face language as a QB on our Titan's team.

That wasn't a good look. Maturity will have to happen in this area and I expect Vrabel will ensure this continued development.

right?

Don’t go bringing facts into this. It’s hilarious that if anyone ever says one thing that can be construed as negative towards us that they instantly become public enemy #1. People have made some pretty bad comments about Herbstreit in the NCAA Forum. They probably don’t remember him talking about there not being a better place in the country on game day than Neyland when he did the Kentucky game last season.
