Barry Odom fired at Missouri

Heard Will Healy’s name mentioned from a friend of his. Just saying..........

Sources told FootballScoop that Central Michigan’s Jim McElwain, Tulane’s Willie Fritz, Louisiana Tech’s Skip Holtz, Air Force’s Troy Calhoun, Army’s Jeff Monken and Charlotte’s Will Healy have emerged as candidates for the opening in Columbia.

Yes, please.

So we have 2 Academy coaches on there...Mizxou thinking of going the GaTech route?

Updated per FB Scoop, add Blake Anderson from Ark State to list of candidates.

Missouri Board of Curators is not happy with how the AD is handling the search and the names they are hearing. Per football scoop - board has not outright rejected any candidate but is worried about the public fallout if Mizzou doesn’t consider some high-profile coaches and settles for lesser-known names.

Dumb move by Mizzou especially with loss of scholarships. Guarantee their next coach is currently a coordinator somewhere or non P5 level coach.

Won't ever happen but MO State fans are hoping that Dave Steckel finds his way back to Columbia...

This is FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNNY! Like a high profile coach wants that job?!? Get da %$#@ outta here!

I don’t get this firing. They are under probation and banned from a bowl this and next year, from things that happened before he was head coach. If they think they are getting a proven winner under than shadow then best of luck. I’d fine the best lower division coach in the country and say “show is what you can do!”

I would have kept him to ride out the challenges. Then get a new coach without the issues.

I think he got fired primarily because of 2 losses they deemed inexcusable - at Wyoming and at Vandy. Plus the offense stunk all year with a highly touted transfer QB. Given that he had made 2 bowl games in the previous 2 seasons, I thought they would have given him more time, personally. I mean, it is Missouri we're talking about, not Alabama or Georgia.

My goodness - that'd be a parabolic trajectory for his career. He was the the WR coach at UT Chattanooga just 4 years ago. That dude can flat-out recruit (albeit he's shown it at lower levels of football), that's for sure.

If Mizzou wants him, then good for Will...I'd just love to see him stay at Charlotte for a while, get to double-digit wins and make some more bowl games, then maybe get offered a job where he'd have a better chance for long-term success. Or perhaps take a P5 offensive coordinator job first.

I just heard Odom is out. I’m a little surprised given he is an alumnus and I thought at a place like Missouri he would get a little more time but I guess it shows they are definitely not content with 6-6 and bottom half in the East.
Universities never fire alumnus coaches.

I am biased, being a Peay guy, but this guy is amazing. He is a super nice guy that connects with his players in a good way. I'm with you. I hope he holds out for something else.

Down the road...if CJP does what we want (wins big)......CWH could be Vols HC????

Pretty sure he grew up a Vol fan. At least I think he was at Boyd. :)

Will Healy will be a force to come. He is a study of Dabo, and has spent time with him because he has very similar beliefs and practices in coaching and building culture.

I seem to be the only person to ever throw this name out. Never see it as an up and comer on anyone's radar list. And he is now 48. But, Brian Bohannon at Kennesaw State has done an excellent job. Has won far more than Healy, and been a HC longer. Not only was he the upstart coach for the program, he has won early, a lot, and consistently. He has been their only head coach, and his only HC job. 47-14 in 5 seasons, the only 5 seasons of KSU football, with two trips to the FCS quarter finals in the first 4. 2019 playoff TBD. Currently 11-2 and in the 2nd round, and ranked 9th coming off the regular season.

See my post just above. Brian Bohannon, Kennesaw State. Tearing it up. Never has had his name in any up and comer coaching searches.

Of course not! Ha!

I just meant that I thought that may help give him more time, especially given he improved every year until this one. I just worded it poorly but I still think something else was going on.
My post was blue font intended especially since we did it to Fulmer.

They had never made a bowl game prior to his arrival. They were 22-48 since they brought back football.
