Basilio says Offensive Tackle a big concern

I somewhat understand the concern at RT. But between Crawford and Mincey, we should be solid there, even if they’re not Darnell Wright. I think Crawford is better suited at RT anyway. Both options at RT have played a lot of SEC football and both did so at LT, which is a more difficult position than RT (look at how much better DW was at RT vs. LT).

On the other side, we’re improved at LT, which nobody seems to want to talk about. We return both of the guys who played there last year, but Campbell is starting over both, meaning he’s better than what we had there last year. And it’s more important to be good at LT than RT.

My thoughts exactly. Plus, the OL in general has more depth than last year.

Darnell was awesome and Carvin was very good and durable. But, college OLs lose their top players every year or two…it’s the nature of the sport and good OL coaches like Elarbee know to manage the roster and player development accordingly.

My only concern for the OL is that Milton is less elusive than Hooker and needs better protection.

Don’t always agree on your LT vs RT point, but agree everywhere else.

His show is unlistenable.
Yep, but there's not really that much of "his show" to contend with. Quit on him a while back. When you consider the amount of commercials plus the same cadre of callers over and over and over again, there's not that much content from basilio. He just throws these silly, random thoughts out for his buddies to discuss while he eats lunch and belches his way through a couple of hours. Repetitive, boring and annoying. It's more nonsense than news. 247 is a far, far better show. Much more professional and informative.

The Vols lost the best OT (Wright) we have seen in decades on the hill. That type of player is not simply replaced and will be missed. The good news is there is experience returning from a unit that was really good last year. I would almost bet that Elarbee is going to have a formidable starting five by SEC standards in the next couple of weeks. The progress of the OL from year one to two proved to me that the offensive coaches know what they are doing when it comes to OL development. GBO!!!!

It is a concern but I believe Vols will be fine. Mincey and Crawford manned one of the spots and they are both back. They can play both left and right as needed (likely RT starters). On left side we have a seasoned veteran from Miami and Dayne Davis as backup. So personnel wise we will be fine there, however anytime you have a new 'set' of Oline, there is always some time needed to gel together, get all of them on same page etc. That will happen as season goes on.

Actually, so far, it's been Campbell and Mincey on the left, with Crawford and Davis on the right side. But otherwise, i agree.

I completely agree. Not concerned about RT at all

I’m more concerned about the interior o line. Who is going to start at left guard? Lane, or Karic? And if Nichols isn’t going to play guard has he at least solidified himself as the backup center, or is it still Lane?

Also who is next up at guard..Lampley, Reddick, or Lang? We already have a pretty good idea what tackle will look like.

Ahhh the old Basillio sky is falling routine........a tale as old as time.

Can we at least get into full pads and let these guys practice real football before we start freaking out?
Agree. Best I can tell He and Jimmy Hyams are just trying to make enough noise to pretend they're still relevant after all their good connections to the program have dried up. They know that fans will react to negative stuff and listen in even if just to argue.

How many times have those guys been wrong about fairly major things like coaching searches after claiming to have an inside connection? IMHO, there are guys here that seem to have more insights than they do.

I'm a little more concerned about a backup center, although I figure CGE will get that worked out by the time it may become a problem.

Lane would be my guess. He has more experience than the other options.
