Basillio's X says UT coaches kicking themselves

You help the kid find a school that might fit him better. That's how you don't burn bridges.

I heard Alan Posey was told to look else where. He's now considering Talladega Tech, DeVry University and several Division 9 colleges. Possibly JUCO (Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College)

I heard he was starting his own clinic, the Alan Posey Rehabilitation and Recovery Center for Defensive Lineman, located in Knoxville, TN.

Basillio reporting on his show today that his "insider", X, told him last night that UT's coaches are behind closed doors kicking themselves for taking some of the 3* commits that they took earlier in the year. Little did they know what would materialize with the Florida, Miami openings along with turmoil at UGA and how many recruits would still legitimately be in play for Tennessee at this point in time.

It'll be interesting to see if they're gonna tell some of our commits to start looking elsewhere.

I figured they were probably kicking themselves as well right now. They took way too many marginal prospects early on IMO.

However, they clearly didn't see the UF and Miami situations developing like they did and my guess is they probably didnt think they'd finish up the regular season like they did and get to a bowl game this year.

Say you are dating a cute girl when the hottest girl in school starts showing interest in going to the dance. Do you straight up say, "Cute girl, it's not you... it's me. I just need some space?" No. You just stop calling cute girl every night after dinner... and she gets the message without you ever "breaking up" with her. Then you see her at the dance with some other dude... and it's cool, 'cause you are dancing with hot thang.

Same with recruiting. :boobies:

Depends. The "cute" girl might have a better attitude and work ethic in bed. The hottest girl in school might have a bad attitude and not willing to use her brain(if you get my meaning, giggity). She also might cheat on you for someone with a higher social status.

In recruiting terms, the lesser touted recruit might be more coachable and play with a chip on their shoulder. They also might appreciate the offer more and not leave you high and dry on NSD. Each situation is different and that is why it's not always cut and dry that a higher recruiting ranking means a better fit for your program.

That's funny, I spend most of my time on here reading rumor, hearsay, provocation, posturing, pontification, holier than thou slams, outright lies, statements about what my brother's maid's best friend heard. . , ancient breaking news by Jimmy Hyams, Rod Wilks jokes, elementary school putdowns, lover's spats, shameless flirting, one poster's group of disciples fighting another's, people restating the obvious for the tenth time, UT fanaticism, unbridled optimism, gloom and doom, coach lovers, coach haters, recruitnicks, star gazers, star haters, "Why can't we all just get along?" whiners, and "You and the horse you rode in on" tough guys.

And I just LOVE IT ! :dance2:

Solid post.

Hubbs answered this question on TOS.

I had read somewhere that the coaches were "kicking themselves" for filling the class up so early and that they didn't realize how many bigtime prospects they would be on this late in the game. Do you think that is even remotely true and could that be one of the reasons we didn't have room for Paul?

TIA

I don't buy that. They might be kicking themselves for taking a couple of guys late last year that they could have used those spots to back count. But I don't think they are wishing they hadn't taken someone. If they did, they would have parted ways with them like they did Power.

Go start at the beginning of the Posey thread and you can catch up from there. Or save the time and just trust everyone, that its Alan.

Oh, I'm not disbelieving. Just wondering if he came out and said it or if people figured it out based on his posts.

If these new guys are serious, they need to come in as EE's----if they qualify, that is. That way we are not telling guys to wait and see on signing day. If they can't qualify, it may be moot anyway--sign and place. I am sure DD has a plan.

Its really hilarious and worth the time to read. Posey reveals himself later in the thread but gives insider info along the way until the reveal. Pretty funny regardless. :eek:lol:

Question. In an earlier thread I can't find now, it was reported that Crowder and Downs from Bristol both have 4.0 grades, and could qualify for academic scholarships. People were asking if they did that and walked on, would it not count against our total. Then someone else said they would. Couldn't ask that poster at the time. Does anyone know if this could work out, coming in as walk-ons on academic scholarships and not counting against our total? Both are EE's.
I can't remember the kid's name, but he played for Missouri. His parents were filthy rich, so they paid the kid's way. If my memory serves me right, he did not count against the number.

Walk ons and scholarships are counted different. NCAA just don't want schools using baseball and track scholarships for football to have an advantage over everyone.
