I would argue for the inverse. I think he’s playing poorly because he’s getting basically no minutes.
11, 10, 9, 13, 13, and 11. Those are his minutes the last 6 games. Hard to do much when you’re rarely given the chance to play and they basically just till you to camp in the corner for an occasional open 3.
When he was first drafted with the Lakers, I thought it was a perfect spot because he’d be given time to develop on a winning roster with a coach that understands how to get the most out of a shooter with DK’s profile.
It’s definitely not been that and it seems like the Luka trade has just made the situation worse. Lakers really do need to trade him this off-season while he still has any value at all. Him rotting on the bench isn’t helping him grow. He’d be better off in the G-League right now.
