I have seen Golden play multiple games this season and he is a much better fit at SG.

So back to the original post. Does anyone know if there is validity to this rumor? A lot of people have said they "heard" it was true, but that doesn't work for me.

If they is any proof I would love to see it because this kid is a talent.

I wouldn't screw around with that Atlanta Celtics pipeline Tony Jones and Bruce Pearl has built. But that is why they get paid the big bucks.

This same rumor popped up about 6-8 weeks ago when someone said Selby would be in Knoxville for the KU game. Nothing came of it, and the rumor was quickly forgotten.

The only thing that anybody really knows is that the UT staff attended one of Selby's games recently. The rest is up to the unpredictability of the recruiting game.

Heard that Selby will only end up at KY if they do not get Brandon Knight. KY say that Knight is their first choice and he and Selby play the same position and Greasapari won't bring in both because he wouldn't be able to sell them on getting to the NBA after one year since they play the same spot. Also, Selby and Golden would play the same spot. That is the reason we were able to get back in on Golden right after Selby decommitted. I don't think Golden would like it.

I had also heard that rumor about Selby but his mom quickly shot that down. IMO, I think Selby really likes Pearl and UT and wants to play here but his mom has been sold by WWW to not come here.

In all reality, we need for Hopson to blow up the second half of the season and be a lottery pick (won't happen), and the same for Chism too. Until we start getting some guys in the pro's, the other schools will continue to hammer in to recruits that you can't get to the league if you go to Tennessee. It's obvious in Joe Jackson's comments after he committed to Memphis that Pastner and Calipari had been telling him that very thing.

When Pearl was in Isreal coaching the Jewish team, Selby went to LeBron's Nike Camp and blew it up. Word is that WWW got a hold of Selby's mom, they spoke, next few days Selby de-committed. This after he had been one of the more solid commits we had and Rivals had done an article on him about 2 weeks prior where he said that he was solid to UT and how much he loved it, etc.

Make no mistake, WWW's hands are all over this. It wouldn't surprise me if he doesn't end up at KY, but this is my theory. I think Greasapari would have no qualms about having WWW run interference on recruits going to other rival programs just to keep them from going there. Especially if he could stick it to Pearl and UT.

Even if we wanted Selby still there is a big obstacle that I really don't see us getting around...

For those of you who don't think we should re-recruit Selby because of "attitude issues," you might check out videos of this guy. He is an absolute talent!

I live just outside Lexington right now and I can't turn on my tv without seeing and hearing about UK basketball. Most of the talk surrounds J Wall and his immense ability. Nearly every UK fan would want him on their team and he has demonstrated "attitude issues" as well. I really think Selby is a similar kind of talent. His game is a little different (not true PG), but he has similar ability to Wall.

I'm not saying we should or shouldn't be going hard after Selby because I don't know the extent of his "attitude issues." We definitely don't need more legal trouble, but a little team chemistry challenge may be worth the gamble to get a talent like Selby on the team.

We have a tendency to trash any player who initially shows interest in UT and latter spurns us for anther team. I wonder if some of that is active here in regards Selby.

Selby is likely a 1 and done anyway so he would be gone before they even get to campus. If not he would certainly be gone after there Freshmen year.

I certainly wouldn't turn him down because it might hurt the feelings of a couple of HS Juniors. Having him to go along with Tobias Harris, McRae & Golden for just one year could totally raise the bar for Tennessee basketball both on the court and in future recruiting two/three years down the road with what they might accomplish in just one season.

Great question. I've heard the whole deal with his mother/nike/calipari/$$$ but does anyone know if selby was in on this or just a parent looking to cash in early?

We did somthing great piping them they don't ever run out of talent.

I think we have to take him is he wants to come. If we didn't we could be possibly messing up a chance at a National Championsip IMO. With Hopson, Harris, Selby, and anybody else you throw on the court, we could be dangerous.

this is 100% about his mother. and his mother was 100% swayed by WorldWideWes/Nike/$$$
