You're definitely right that it seems destined to fail and burn in flames this season.
maybe, maybe not.
in the end, you'll have one undefeated Big 10 champ.
then, after that, you'll have a choice of........
a 1 loss Big 10 runner up
possibly a 1 loss SEC champ
a two loss Big 12 champ.
possibly a one loss Pac 10 champ
Possibly a one loss Notre Dame
Possibly an undefeated or 1 loss big east champ.
A lot of "possibly's" in there to say that it won't work again.
ARK and FL both have legit shots at winning the SEC with only 1 loss. either of them do that, then they are deserving of consideration.
TX is out regardless.
USC is the one that can throw this thing in to chaos.
If they win out, they are in as far as i can tell.
lose a game and they're out...but a lot depends on who they lose to...lose to Cal, good for ARK if they can win out. Lose to ND, Good for ND, especially if Mich wins this weekend...ARK is likely out, even if they win out.
If you're a FLor ARK fan, you want USC to lose to Cal and USC to beat ND. if that happens, a one loss SEC champ likely goes to Glendale.
If USC were to lose to ND and either UF lose the SEC CG and ARK lose to LSU prior to the SEC CG, then ND is likely in the NT game.
And if FL loses the SEC CG, ARK loses to LSU, ND loses to USC and USC loses to Cal....
rematch of the OSU/Mich game in Glendale, or TX might sneak in, but i doubt it.
the only fly in the ointment is if Rutgers wins out...the computers love them. but would the humans pull up the slack and vote 'em high enough? Over a one loss Mich/OSU team?
See...lots of football left...worst case for the BCS is is to have Rutgers undefeated Big East Champs, FL with one loss as SEC Champs and USC with one loss as Pac 10 champs. that would be bad for the BCS.
