oh ok. well what would you say to the number 9 team. what if We were the number 9 team or if you do ten teams what if we are no 11. its going to make that team that barely missed feel like crap and feel cheated by the pollsters.

well thats the same as arguing the 6 BCS teams.. so it might not change much, they just need to try the +1 system or something... BCS hasnt effected UT in a bad way yet so yeah

That's why I don't necessarily want a playoff. I don't want to hear arguments about why borderline top 10 teams deserve to be in the Nat'l title hunt. When you let more than 4 teams in, you start degrading the value of the regular season . . .

...and IMHO the last thing we need is for two 6-5 teams to come in and bastardize Neyland Stadium to play in the Smoky Mountain Bowl

Never heard of that bowl.

That's because I made it up and just appointed myself President of the Smokey Mountain Bowl committee. :D

AND THATS WHY WE KEEP IT LIKE IT IS.

i think what would be funny would be the 'toilet tourny' where the BOTTOM 8 teams play and the losers go on to see who the worst team is

Gotta go cliche on that -- The Toilet Bowl.

Except you don't wanna make those guys more depressed than they already are.

All I remember about Miss State vs. Florida was a big fat "WHAT THE :censored: HAPPENED IN GAINESVILLE?"

i dont see how.. one of my friend's dad refereed the state champ game in NC when leak played at independence and said he was unstoppable.. seems like he alone couldbeat MSU

In high school, Chris Leak didn't have to overcome Ron Zook.

A playoff will probably never happen because just the top adds two extra games and they are not going to do that because it is just too much on these kids. You have to give them time to complete some classes too. You also have to take some time in there to get some recruiting done.
A plus one system, however, would solve the problem of two undefeated major conference teams after all the bowls are played, or even if you have two one loss teams with a legitimate claim to a national title if one of them wasn't in the BCSCG. This would have solved the problem last year(USC-LSU) and this year(USC-Auburn). But this still wont solve the chance of someone whining because it is all based on poll(s) which are flawed. With the AP pulling their poll from BCS consideration, you have more or less given the coaches a bigger say in who gets the nod. The coaches just don't have the time to watch all these teams in action every week.
