A venomous snake hiding inside a tree bit a Lowe's shopper in a North Carolina store.

The East Lincoln Fire Department posted on Facebook: "Please watch the trees in the garden area of Lowe's Home Improvement. ... This could happen at any store that sells trees. So be mindful when shopping for gardening supplies."

The copperhead snake was removed from the scene in a shopping bag.

That seems to happen at least once a year at either a Lowe's or Home Depot.

I'm not a big snake fan.

Coincidentally, Freak Jr stepped on a snake in someone's lawn yesterday -- he took off running. Lol.

It's the only thing in this world that I am personally terrified of. I don't care if it's a little garden snake, to me those things even look like Cobras.

I just hate the fact that you never know where one might be lurking. Lol.

I'm the designated snake hunter at my house so I've had to kill a few in the last couple of years. I don't mind it as long as I know that snake is there and can see it.

But that takes all the fun out of it if you know where it is!😁

Two years ago I killed a copperhead in my yard, and the neighbors. There's no scientific data to prove it, and lots say it's just an old wives tale, but I put out moth balls around both decks and haven't seen one since. It may be a coincidence, but I'll take it.

I do the same to keep them away from the house. Works so far. Got to be the real mothballs, tho.

A couple of years ago I picked up a bag of Miracle Gro Organic Blood Meal Mix and it was covered with fire ants. Give me fire ants any day over a snake.

After a few bad run-ins while living in Florida, I have a strong dislike for those little bastards, too.

Word to wise. Pools are awesome but you might want to walk around them before diving right in and check out the skimmer box for uninvited guests. Has happened more than a few times in our pool. Yipes!

My mother bought a sack of potatoes at the grocery store that had a scorpion in it.

That's cool. Typically these days the prizes in cereal and crackerjacks have gone to crap. Didn't know they were putting them in potatoes but it sounds like they're making a good effort.

A few years ago I took the kids camping. While there, we packed up some chairs and lunch to go to a nearby lake. When we got there, everyone took off leaving me to unpack the chairs etc. I throw one of them on the ground and a snake pops out hisses at me and takes off. I can't imagine what would've happened if it did that in the car.

We found half a coral snake in our kitchen a few years back when I was growing up. House cat did its job and ate the other half.

Of course, he also ate my little sisters hamster. So it was a wash.

When i was a kid, i killed a chicken snake near my grand parents barn. My g-daddy whooped my ass for it too. He told me they eat the mice around there and to never do it again.

We once spotted a sizable lizard dead center at the bottom of our pool. I thought it must have fallen in and drowned but when I fished it out I saw it had a big gash through its side. Best I can figure, a hawk or owl must have caught it then accidentally dropped it while flying over.

Another snake you should never kill is a King Snake. They prey on and eat Copperheads. If you see a King Snake, you can bet your bottom dollar a Copperhead is also in the vicinity. No need to worry. The King Snake will dispatch of it in pretty quick order. I have witnessed this in my own yard a number of times over the years.

Also, in Tennessee killing any kind of snake is illegal and will get you a ticket if a TWRA officer sees you doing it.

Buddy of mine got up one morning about 3am to use the bathroom. A water moccasin was next to the toilet. He retrieved his shot gun and blew a whole in the floor trying to kill it.

I killed one once while mowing a state park. The Arkansas game and fish officer watched me do it. Told me after the fact I could be ticketed for it. You are not allowed to kill any poisonous snakes in the state.

I think that's the way it is in most states. I know people have gotten fined for killing copperheads in middle TN.
