If the naysayers could look at themselves objectively... It is SO ILLOGICAL to say we have stepped into the dark when we have a picture of his possibility through his proven track record. I know I'm not saying that he will take us to the top. There are three-hundred 'give or take' other schools attempting to be king of the hill also. Remember we fired a coach who did take us there. Maybe our expectations are just a little unreasonable. When I say that I'm not talking about expecting to be the best. I'm saying expecting a coach to make us the best in three years or less. We are in the most competitive conference hands down which could justify a year or two extra. Use south carolina as an example... They took a coach who took another team to the top and when he didn't get them very far in three or four years they didn't panic they were patient and now they are not to slouchy. No he hasn't gotten them to the top but neither have they hit the lows that we have now experienced.

Actually, "we" didn't interview anyone. Dave Hart did. He also said that he spent the majority of his time interviewing 4 coaches and spoke with a handful of others. But once again, we don't know the whole story, nor will we ever.

OTOH, being too quick to be negative and pull the trigger on a coach is a big part of why we are where we are.

People weren't happy with Fulmer, got really negative and then had their way when he screwed up the 2008 season by hiring Clawson.

Whether you thought Fulmer should have been fired or not, even without the hindsight of how he screwed us, do you really think Kiffin was a good replacement for a 0.750 win % guy who won the NC? Kiffin...who Al Davis called a liar and got fired after less than one season in the NFL?

Ever think that maybe Kiffin was all we could find after firing Fulmer, because of the unreasonable, jaded and in some cases half insane fan base? Ever think we should have handled it differently?

Fast forward to today. We just got Butch Jones. Was that Hart's fault? By all reports, he reached out to Gruden (and was quickly rebuffed), then tried with Grundy (though no actual offer) and likely reached out to Fedora and Fisher before being rebuffed by Strong.

Now...Hart did everything he could to land a coach. If you want to know why it was so hard, don't blame Hart...LOOK IN THE FREAKING MIRROR!

And think long and hard about running off Fulmer, and the situation we are in now.

The fans are, in fact, a huge part of the problem here. Period, dot.

why don't folks look at the bright side. we have a coach, and after looking at the other coaches that were available, I would have chosen this guy over any of them. The decision has been made..If you are disappointed with this hire, who did you want?

Again using the S.Car. example... which would be easier to win the championship next year from where our team is now or to win it from where S.Car. is???? That is an easy answer but very many of this fanbase seems to miss that simple logic. So Butch strings 4 years of 7 and 8 win seasons... Better than what we have had the last four years? Of COURSE! We need to stop throwing out the baby with the bathwater and make tweaks instead of wholesale changes.

Not sure what you mean...and as far as SC ,what happens when Spurrier leaves? I think we have a coach now that will win more than one SEC game a year. It all starts with winning SEC games.
