Bears Vikings MNF

Jefferson coming back will definitely help and so would better play calling that would utilize his legs. There were multiple times when I thought they should've let him run tonight. Pass rush was all over him and he made some very bad decisions. Hope he bounces back next week. The Bears D was tough tonight.
Let him run? Most of his runs this year have been improvised and he has flashed in some of them. This is the NFL, not college. HUGE difference l

I'm not certain where Josh's ceiling is yet but it's good enough to play at this level. The problem isn't his ability make plays, he can absolutely do that, but ball security is a real issue. That could have easily been a 6 pick game with one being an easy td.

I think he's better than what we saw last night but it's like being an explosive rb or wr that's a risk to fumble or drop passes. At some point the big plays aren't enough to conceal the bad. Hopefully going forward Josh can clean this up.

And THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is why Dobbs is a journeyman quarterback! He clearly can’t take of the ball against a mediocre defense and he will never be a true starter. Sad but true.
Really? I thought THAT was why you can't let the defense turn him into a pocket passer. Under that much pressure it should be two reads and take off. Even a two yard gain is better than a risky pressured throw. Using his legs a few times softens the pass rush.

That sounds like a possiblity.

I'm not sure what other solution they have that's any better. Jaren Hall and Nick Mullens are their other two roster QB's and neither have shown much of anything that suggests that they are going to be any better than Dobbs. Trying to get a playoff spot, given what they have on the roster, it seems a benching would be a kneejerk reaction to a bad game in many facets of the game - not just the QB (which was admittedly bad).

I did see where the coach after the game said that they were trying to make Dobbs more comfortable with the offense. He did mention that they needed to pass pro better and that three of the INT's were tipped. I don't think he has decided to go away from Josh.

I certainly hope that cooler heads prevail, but in this day and age, it's hard to say. Last nights game was just terrible - maybe one of the worst games I've watched in sports - period - in a long time. Dobbs looked awful, the coaching was awful, the line was awful, etc etc etc. Seeing a lot of pinning it all on Dobbs this morning across the internet and if anyone actually watched, they'd see that wasn't the case. The stat line was bad, but there was way more to it than just bad QB play.

To be fair to Hall, he hasn't had much of a chance to show much. He got a concussion in the 1st quarter of the only game he's played. And Mullens has a similar career to this point as Dobbs as a career backup with very little in game experience and had been on injured reserve.

He could certainly use another option...ie Jefferson...looks like he currently has two go to options. TE and Addison. Rough to watch. Offense has been simple and ol has been porous. May go back to the rookie if concussion protocol is well behind him. Josh is a team player. He'll accept, though a bitter pill to swallow.

Whatever happens to Dobbs football future, I’m glad he got his 15 minutes of fame and became a household name for a while. Lots of players never get close to that. The win after only being with the team a few days is a legend that will live on. I think he’s good enough to improve if he’s given more time to develop. The NFL is very unforgiving though.

4 ints last night. And to a bad bears team. I hate it for him.

Bad outing last night...hopefully it was just the 'fluke' game that all the QBs seem to be having this year.
Mahomes has had one, Burrow had a couple before his injury, Wilson, Prescott, etc...seems that every one in the league has had a weird bad game at least once so far this year.

Hate that it was to the Bears and in the division. Going to be hard to catch up to the Lions for sure. Next week is a bye, so let's see if O'Connell makes a change or lets Dobbs settle in a little more with the rest and extra practice.

Either way, still extremely proud of Josh and everything he has accomplished so far !!!

Yeah, many of the studs have had bad outings. That being said, the guys you mentioned are the best in the league. No one is mentioning he threw a costly int in the 4th quarter of the last game that led to go ahead points. He has performed admirably in the situation, but it's also apparently obvious why he isn't a QB1

Calling a running play for him. The scheme the Bears' defense was playing didn't afford those opportunities, especially the down and distance the Vikings' offense was operating from most of the night
I'll jump in here: "It's the NFL, not college..." doesn't hold so much anymore with the "protect the QB rules". Set run plays for the QB are about 10 times what they were 15 to 20 years ago. However, I'm not as concerned with giving him called run plays as I am encouraging him to break from the progressions and take off. O'Connell was telling him in that first game: "Don't forget your legs." With limited knowledge of the playbook, Josh's legs were a primary option. Now, it seems they're a last resort. He should have had 8 to 10 runs instead of looking for his 3rd, 4th, or 5th read. Check, check, go.

Post game interviews the Vikings coach pretty much said they were going back to their rookie QB ---in so many words. All the pundits are saying the Josh Dobbs experiment is over. Sad, but he gave it a shot with many teams. I agree some of the pick's were catchable balls the receivers should have caught. And I wonder how JD would have done if he had been given the full time as starter with a better core of receivers. Still a fan of Josh, hope this is not the end of his career in the NFL

You are correct and only need to look at the top QBs today as proof. Mahomes and Hurd both win games with their legs. Hurd beat the Bills Sunday with a scramble into the end zone from 15 yards out.

He's already proven in his previous starts he is better than this. he has the 15th highest QBR in the NFL....after last nights game.....think about that. he has a higher QBR than Joe Burrow, Russel Wilson, Baker Mayfeild, Jordan Love and Bryce Young to name a few. And he is 14th in PAA which is another QB rating kinda like NET+- in the NBA but for QB's

He is hands down the 2nd best UT QB at the NFL level ever.

Just brutal. He had really one bad game and it looks like that's enough to do it for his chances there. Seems like he would have earned some good will for at least one more game or two, but the NFL is a grind and even more "what have you done for me lately" than college unfortunately.
