Beating Vandy

Saw this post by CitVol on the KNS site. While I know nothing about CitVol, I thought his post was classic because all properly raised Vols since Neyland and before should despise Vanderbilt, The University of Peabody.

"We will beat Vandy. Some things never change. Our worst is better than their first. I don't care if its James Franklin or Jame Buchanan or Franklin Pierce doing the coaching. There has been a lot distracting these boards this week, and the hatred of the bile and dung colored peabody teachers college has been placed on the back burner. George Cafego is rolling over in his used van in his grave right now. Joe Thompson is out there somewhere with disbelief that the Vol Nation is ranting more about the coaching situation than the fact that Peabody U is favored in this game. We will beat them. They suck. Decades and decades of failure cannot be overcome. There is an immovable object of losing combined with an irressistable force of futility. Its like skunk stench and there are no tubs available to take a tomato juice bath. That odor will simply not go away."

Thank you citvol

I have a cousin who got his RM (Registered Murse -- Male Nurse) from Vanderbilt. I've been getting hit full force from his arrogance for months now. History and last year "matter not," just that UT sucks and Vanderbilt is better enough for him to gloat about it.

He posted on Facebook yesterday "You know UT is in trouble when their fans start de-friending you."

To which I replied "No one wants to be friends with the douche who picks on the kid with Downs."

Seem like all 116 Vandy fans are spouting off; just like they did last year when we beat them.

We lost to Ky last year. Now we lose to Candy this year.

Vandy is a much better team than the Kentucky team UT lost to last year. If Dooley can't get these guys ready to play UT will lose this one as well. Let's just hope Dooley can get 11 guys on the field on special teams and he's not afraid to go for it on 3rd down.

in fairness to the tennessee staff (and i am donning kevlar as i type this), they gave up only 28 points last week.

which still isn't good, but that was indeed better. and actually the defense only gave up 21.

i just hate the way overtime stats are done, it gives a totally inaccurate picture of the game. i don't know how the situation can be fixed. but, i hate a situation like this where a qb throws 5 td's or something and 3 of them were in overtime.

it screws up offensive and defensive numbers

For once we agree. A 17-17 tie at the end of regulation time should not wind up 48-45, for example. Putting the ball in play at the 25-yd. line automatically places the offensive team in scoring position. Like you, I don't have a solution, but the status quo often badly skews impressions, not to mention stats, of a game.

The good news is that regardless of who wins tomorrow, it only counts as one game. Vandy would need to win about 60 years of games against us tomorrow, at once, to make this "rivalry" relevant.

There is no way they can score enough to keep up with us. Granted, our defense is pathetic, but we will simply outscore them

Here's hoping that each and every Vol channels their inner Cafego tomorrow. Cheers.

That was an ass whipping! I was so drunk last night I was hoping this morning I remembered wrong, but the headline in the Tennessean said otherwise. At least I will get some satisfaction from todays presser.
