Beer (and beer pics!)

If you can get a couple bottles before you drive back I'll pay for them and give you some of my beer for your trouble. If you cant, no big deal. Thanks

I'll see what I can do. Will be slammed packing and moving so may be hard to do

Flash back to the good ole days. Go VOLS!

There's a good Nashville and surrounding area beer group on Facebook. It is an offshoot of the big "beer" group...that one has just gotten ridiculous.

This thread on the second page? That's the party foul.

Somewhat newsworthy for me, I think I just landed AtG's Bo & Luke set with new variants. Major want for me.

Never got to ask...how did you score this? I thought ticket sales haven't happened yet? Wish they were doing online...would love to grab a ticket for the release.

I've got a new friend that is in pretty tight with the brewers. I still traded a ton and I'll do an IP in Louisville for it.

Well, let me know if you get an extra ticket...would be a great reason to visit the inlaws ;). Might be up there anyway for Zwanze day.

Yeah anyway to speed up the process as well?

Here's a good read on fermenters. It really boils down to how much you want to spend. Some people ferment in carboys but I don't like to use them for anything other than secondary. To me its much easier to clean a bucket. I still use buckets but its mainly a space issue. I don't have a good place to put a 14 gallon stainless steel conical fermenter. We're planning to move in the next few years and a better brew\manroom area will be a priority. But you can make beer just as good in 5 gallon buckets.

Fermentedly Challenged: Choosing a fermenter - Part Two

There's really no good way to speed up the process. You could drop your ferment and secondary times down to the minimum for the style but if you want to make a good brew it needs time to do its thing. I brew 10 gallon batches and try to stay far enough ahead where I'm not needing to rush anything. I am starting on fall and winter beers now. I have an Oktoberfest lagering right now and will be brewing a pumpkin ale in the next couple weeks.

Hope this helps.

Ok Thanks. My buddy and I are going try to make a cherry and Vanilla beer because he loves cherry coke and vanilla coke. I will prob only do a 5 gallon run in case of terrible beer.. lol

Are y'all doing extract or all grain? Are you going to use cherry extract or real cherries? The only fruit beer I do is a blueberry ale. I done it with real blueberries the first time and it turned it purple and gave it a slightly sour taste. I used blueberry extract next time and it was perfect. A guy in our brew club told me about a cherry ale he made with cherry extract and he said it had a cough syrup taste. You may want to do some google searches and read other peoples experiences making those. Good luck!

I was talking about real cherries and vanilla extract. What you think?

I just bought a six pack of Chocolate Stout brewed by the Fort Collins Brewing Co. Anyone ever had this before? I'm looking forward to a glass of this tonight!!
