That could get a bit thorny. If you swaller blackburry seeds, den a blackburry bush will grow in yore bellie...kinda like when TGF planted dem seeds with @Souce
Oh
Chit
Yeah, they vanished here 7-8 weeks ago, and then reappeared mid-September.I haven't been able to find any blackberries, frozen or fresh lately. Publix had a fruit cup thing that had a few in it along with grapes, cantaloupe etc. But that's it. Canned pie filling would work but that's it, it would just work.
I keep saying I'm gonna invest in 3-4 good bushes but every time I start researching them I get overwhelmed with information and lack of. Then I decide to wait until I'm fully committed, which obviously isn't very important to me for some reason because here I am about 8 years since I first started thinking about it, still thinking about it.Yeah, they vanished here 7-8 weeks ago, and then reappeared mid-September.
If I ever get my act together and properly maintain our blackberry bushes, I can make preserves, by golly.
This is going to sound crazy...but I had no idea there were any special things to consider when growing blackberries. They seem to have had no problem growing on briar bushes on my property. I keep them mowed down.I keep saying I'm gonna invest in 3-4 good bushes but every time I start researching them I get overwhelmed with information and lack of. Yeah, it's different here. It's not as difficult as I make it, but there's definitely more involved than you'd think. This is going to sound crazy...but I had no idea there were any special things to consider when growing blackberries. Dang. I kinda feel badly about mowing them down.Yeah, it's different here. It's not as difficult as I make it, but there's definitely more involved than you'd think.
I don't care what anybody says, "requires Full sun" is BS here. I know from experience.
I used to have a huge bush (probably 8-10 in a cluster) in back yard in Tennessee that I mowed around. We always had plenty during season.Dang. I kinda feel badly about mowing them down.
I can grow my bush back out for you to come over and pick my berries if you would like.

I trued buying, and growing some, no luck. I try to pick some every year at one of my fishing holes, but didn't this year.I used to have a huge bush (probably 8-10 in a cluster) in back yard in Tennessee that I mowed around. We always had plenty during season.
Growing up we had them in several locations on the farm. Mom and dad had me an my brother pick them and her and my grandma would make preserves.
Didn't realize what I had.
I just made a grocery run (among a hundred or so hurricane shoppers, and no luck on seeded preserves here either.I keep saying I'm gonna invest in 3-4 good bushes but every time I start researching them I get overwhelmed with information and lack of. Yeah, no luck at farmers market. I looked at Cracker Barrel too. There's was seedless. I found some on Amazon that sound good. Homemade by Amish. With seeds. 2 18oz jars for $18. I'd be fine with that if I knew it was what I wanted.I just made a grocery run (among a hundred or so hurricane shoppers, and no luck on seeded preserves here either.
But a thought occurred to me: are you anywhere near a large, permanent (not tailgate) farmer’s market or co-op? You might have luck there.
I’m like you on this: I grew up with seeded preserves, although from a jar. (My mom’s cooking ranged from boring to inedible, with no stops in between.) Seedless is just weird.
Yeah, I haven't committed yet either. I'm actually going to go down to his house and get some when it's time. I have about 460 days to go. Will start putting in the Garden space next fall.I know he grows them and remember he sent or was gonna send you some of his.
My biggest issue is committing to it.
Sometimes out of laziness I say "jelly" but I don't mean Jelly. Jelly is for losers like TFG being jelly of souce and Weezer.Yeah, I haven't committed yet either. FTR, blackberry jelly doesn't even taste good. My Grandmama in W. TN used to have "tame" blackberries. Damn things were big as your last thumb joint. Seeds were correspondingly larger too but man it was good.
I did some reading around, and it looks like Florida blackberry growing is pretty much restricted to N FL and the panhandle, where they get some semblance of winter chill (for now, anyway.) But that’s especially true for blackberries that are grown commercially, tough enough for shipping.Yeah, it's different here. It's not as difficult as I make it, but there's definitely more involved than you'd think.
