Belichick to UNC

No NFL team is gonna wait until June 2 to hire a HC so it is kind of a moot point, no?

He's either gonna get an NFL gig in the next week or so and pay his $10 million buyout or he will be coaching football at UNC this fall.

Those are the only two possible outcomes here
I agree. It was a poor example, I think it’s just an odd date for his buyout to be reduced to such a small amount. Crazy things happen in sports all the time, with the way coaches come and go these days for various reasons, nothing surprises me any more .

Oh yeah, the entire thing is weird.

Offhand, I would think the date may have been set in June to aid in recruiting. If the date was say Jan 31, then yeah the game is going to be more obvious.

I really question if there is not a wink wink nod nod between UNC and BB that he is going to try to get an NFL job and if he doesn't, he will be their coach. If he does, then his son will be coach and will have the season to show what he can do

Belichik doesn't need many wins at all to take over the lead from Shula does he? The man is vain enough that he wants his name at the top of that list

Either way, we're gonna know in the next week or so. Believe 2 of the NFL gigs were already filled. Once the music stops and the chairs are filled if Belichik is not sitting in one of them then he will be coaching UNC in the fall..

29-38 since Brady left. We shall see what happens. UNC has a crap track record with Football coach hires. None worse than the geriatric version of Mack Brown

UNC System president wants sign off for future hires after Bill Belichick negotiations

If Belichick bolts for the NFL anytime soon, the melt down in Chapel Hill is going to be better than anyone can hope or expect.

The head of North Carolina's public colleges issued a rebuke of the trustees at UNC-Chapel Hill and suspended some of their authority over athletics, saying their "independent and unilateral actions continue to create substantial legal risk to the University."

Hans said "instances continue to occur where members of the board appear to act independently of their campus's administration in matter squarely within the responsibility of the chancellor."

The board has been at odds with athletic director Bubba Cunningham, making publicly critical remarks about his handling of the department during a budget committee meeting in May
