I’m on group texts w/ UNC fans sending me this stuff. It’s on every local news station as I type this. I was just pointing this out. It’s part of my duty to mess w/ @Vol423 and @Pennheel to take some shots at UNC when needed.I just don't get complaining about it.
you can just not click on the story. or not follow the account, or if it comes up in the scroll just keep going right past it. Its not like you are forced to click or engage with it.
I'll give it to Billy, he's dating and incredibly mature and insightful 'chick'Totally!! So excited so I can hardly contain myself lol... Ah,we'll see where this fun little coaching hire takes us.
gotcha. didn't know there was some good ole fashioned ribbing involved here, makes more sense.
I had to laugh at that one. Can't believe UNC agreed to this but they must have really, really wanted him
Bill Belichick Agrees To UNC Job On Condition He Can Live In Girlfriend’s Dorm
"We're working on accommodating Coach Belichick and the young woman we mistakenly thought was his grand-daughter," said UNC Athletic Director Bubba Cunningham. "We are more than willing to do whatever it takes to bring in such a legendary football coach. If that means granting his girlfriend a full-ride scholarship and allowing them to live together in her dorm, then so be it. We are also prepared to offer her cotton candy, roller skates, and anything else a young lady her age might want."
It's absolutely stunning to me that 1) Belichick would be interested in that job and 2) UNC would be interested in him for that job.
Deion is also an incredible self-promoter and showman. BB got a lot of attention because he won a ton of games, not because of his public-facing personality. If he isn't good at UNC, I imagine people will tune out rather quickly, in contrast to Deion. Deion is so polarizing that he gets attention when the team is good or bad (honestly, he gets more attention when they're losing). If BB is coaching a team and that team isn't good, what is compelling about it? After Brady left NE, those Patriots teams were a snoozefest.Look at what the off the field media attention Prime did for Colorado..... Thi swill have similar impact in terms of staying relevant off the field. My guess is BB will hire a very active recruiting staff so he doesn't have to travel the road constantly. And also with NIL, it sorta makes recruiting easier because its turning into a recruiting position only matters by the dollar amount being offered.
This hire and the described investment makes me think that they are trying to change the perception and the overall dynamic of their identity. There are a lot positives and negatives that can come with this. If this doesn’t work I think UNC will be potentially be setback for a long time. Supporters will say “hey we tried, we spent X $ amount here and here, and we still couldn’t get an ACC championship.” If it works UNC can springboard into the upper echelon of the ACC and can become an annual contender for a CFP spot and they can have similar combined success in football, basketball and other sports the way that we do and Bama and others. Basketball could be fragile right now w/ Hubert not quite having the success they’re accustomed to and this shift could have a negative impact on basketball from a $ perspective. It’s a crossroads time in Chapel Hill.I swear for the life of me why???? I'm no NC hater at all! But really??...His age, No college experience, No personality, A BBall school?...Yet NC acts as if it's a splash, a boom..WTF?

I think the landscape around college sports is changing too. in the past you could have football bankroll your other sports. I know UNC basketball is a money maker, but football makes more money. with the NIL changes I think the football money is going to stay more in football, rather than supporting other sports. so they have to maximize what football can make now. otherwise they risk losing even more. This hire and the described investment makes me think that they are trying to change the perception and the overall dynamic of their identity.
