Belmont Bruins vs. Tennessee Volunteers 9:30 pm et. (ESPNU)

It was AN issue just like the terrible officiating was an issue. It wasnt just calls against UT it was both ways.

Officiating tends to even out. We just made 245 turnovers against a really weak defensive team applying no pressure.

Hardwood... i cant really say its choking when these refs have been so abysmal. The NIT needs to apologize to both of these programs for the referee's ... someone needs to apologize at least.

I was referring to the near air-ball freethrow that the kid from Belmont missed to tie the game.

Good, lucky win. Somebody has to stop hopson from trying to be a star. He should let the game come to him. Harris is the star, and needs more touches. The guy could hit for 24 a game. We are dead if these TO's don't stop, and we are playing too many people.

A win is a win. Tough game to go by do to the poor officiating. Bruce needs to work on the rotation. We need to finish better though definitely, definitely choked there at the end.

My point is that 59 fouls in one game ruins the flow of a game both ways. That is unacceptable. Again it wasnt the reason we struggled but it was a reason there was a struggle.

The poor officiating didn't mask the obvious problems that Tennessee has with handling the ball and playing defense.

If the game is called by the rules, you have to adjust and play D.

The poor officiating evens out as both teams suffered evenly from it.

The Vols lose this game if Belmont is on their game behind the three-point line. Especially considering that the Vols did not seem to be aware that Belmont likes to take about 30 3's a game, given how many uncontested 3's we witnessed tonight. That's unacceptable.

The 5-point play that made it a 5-point game and fouled Williams out was huge for them.

Yes, indeed. Rotation was not good for this game. Partially whistle-happy referees fault, but not all of it. Bad flow all game. Somebody has to get used to somebody and play together from repetition.

I will agree it would have been much more enjoyable win if we had finished strong and avoided the run, but It was great to see the poise to overcome a 22 to 6 run late in the game by making 8 FT's to seal the game and over come an early test on our new roster. I think its a good sign moving forward.

We were up by 17, and they quickly cut it to 11 with two 3s. Then came the 5-point play. As for "choking," we had a turnover by Tobias at 75-65; then, they scored 5 on one play. Then, our freshman PG turned it over on I think two straight trips. Our halfcourt offense did get exposed. But, it's not like our effort just disappeared. At least we won. Tomorrow will be another tough game.

I knew we'd be in for a long one with Goins out. Golden got the deer in the headlights look but we'll be okay. He has a ton of potential and he's young. T/Os are really killing us. Goins has got to step up and run this team. Scotty needs to stop trying to be a hero. Why in the hell do you chuck up a 3 that close in the game. It wasn't even a good shot at that. Harris could seriously have 20 every single night and needs more touches. I agree that the rotation needs to be fixed. Fields still looks like a beast IMO. He was way to physical for these boys with the whistles tonight though. He'd be tough to bump with in the paint though so I look forward to seeing him. I liked what little I seen of Williams and hope he didn't just assume the jobs his because Wayne is gone. Fields will either wake him up or take his spot.

Coming into the game, I was confident we would pull it out if it were a close game in the final two minutes. My concern was that a 4-5 minute bad stretch in the middle of the second half would turn a 6-pt lead into a 6-pt deficit. It would have been tough to come from behind against these guys. The bad stretch did come, but it was too late for Belmont.

In case you forgot that this was the Dick's Sporting Goods preseason NIT, the officials constantly reminded us by being dicks.
