Belmont vs Duke

Xavier's getting tons of hype right now from everyone as being the best mid-major, but I honestly think I'd take Belmont on a neutral floor. They're such an incredibly well-disciplined team.

Not to put a damper on the pro-Belmont talk, but this really means that Duke simply isn't very good yet.

Belmont will be scary come March Madness

Would've been last year as well, but they got the absolute worst matchup they possibly could've in Wisconsin. Hopefully, they have better luck of the draw this March. They'll do damage regardless.

Longtime Vol hoops fan(Tony White is still my hero) but have recently become a huge Belmont supporter. Last year I experienced the worst day in my sports life when I sat at TBA and watched my 2 favorite teams play(I know I have cussed so may others for that but I have an excuse). That day I realized how bad the Belmont kids deserve one of these signature wins. Its heart breaking to see it happen again but how darn proud I am of what they stand for. Tuesday night is another shot at FedEX Forum. I expect the Bruins to get that one!!!

Or this could be their best game and Duke's worst game all year. We shall see. I don't care one way or the other, but I wouldn't hype Belmont up too much. Coach K could have that same Duke team winning against that same Belmont team by 25 points by the end of their ACC schedule.

Considering Belmont brought back nine men from their 11-man rotation, had a 30-win team last year in a year they weren't expected to win the A-Sun, and have one of the best coaches in the nation in Rick Byrd, I think they'd give anyone a good game.

Agree to some degree. Duke isn't a final four kind of team. Disagree that struggling with Belmont means your not very good. Belmont is good enough to beat anybody on any given night. Duke is a 10-15 type team in the country IMO

To add to that. Those same kids lost by single digits(1pt on a last second shot by Hopson) in 2trips to TBA and a trip Memorial GYM against 2 tourney teams last year. They are legit no question! This was not their best game by any stretch. They didn't make a 3pt basket in the first half.

If they played Duke 10 times, that might be the closest game they play. Everyone acted as if they were some sort of force because they nearly beat us last year. Really, we just weren't any good. That's why they nearly beat us. Belmont is an excellent mid-major team, but that's all they are.

An excellent mid-major, what more can they be??? That has been a pretty darn good compliment lately

Nothing, which is my point. People act like they're some national player because they played a Duke team who hasn't even come close to gelling close and because they nearly beat a bad Tennessee team last year.
