Bernie Sanders Thread

And I agree with you. My point is more that: 1.) Bernie doesn't charge these ridiculous fees. (He wouldn't make Clinton money but he could charge a lot more than he does.) and 2.) Every penny he makes on these speeches he donates to charity.

He doesn't charge those fees because no one would pay them. It's not out of the goodness of his heart.

I ll give the benefit of the doubt for the sake of the discussion.

If he is able to draw more money because of his popularity with his political stances, why would he not charge more in order to give more to charity? I doubt those paying the ticket prices are in the poverty range.

If someone is not able to afford the current prices of his speeches is it reasonable for them to call it ridiculous just because they can't afford it. I don't really the difference in two in that case.

For the record, I agree with hog. If he could pull more he would and if he was as generous as he is made out he would be able to help more people that way.

No outrage from this guy. I'm all for anyone getting what someone is willing to pay them.

The hypocrisy comes when you make $2mil a speech then try to act like your the average Jane. Even though you haven't been in a grocery store in over 20 years.

No don't you remember when they left the White House, they were flat broke?

Those things are admirable. And, to his credit he seems to have lived out his principles.

But, his platform is not good. More mandated socialism is not the answer. Individualism is the answer. The socialism needs to be privately done through charity and volunteerism.

Relying on a subjective cause rather than a stable system is not a "good platform"
That said I can agree that our current system has many flaws charity is not the answer however

Or because the younger generation wasn't subjected to McCarthy type intimidation of communism (affecting socialism).

And please take out more voting bloc, raise the req to 30. Or maybe allow only landowners since responsibility is such a huge deal for you.

Take pride in being a drama queen?

You understand that the youngest voters subjected to McCarthy type intimidations are now in their early nineties.

Would you mind expounding on the the phrases "subjective cause" and "stable system" and the context in which are using them.

Every system has flaws. Even socialism. The key is to minimize the flaws for the largest number of people. For people tied into their community, whether through their religious faith, their occupation, hobbies, etc., charity and volunteerism beats anything the government does by a country mile.

I'll be voting for Bernie in the primary, although Hillary will likely get the nomination. I'll vote against whatever Republican clown is brought out.

I guess you don't believe in keeping your own money and making independent decision without direction from the goverment

Money shouldn't exist. We should all live off government pizza and beer. If we want to work, we are rewarded with premium pizza and premium beer. Most jobs will involve barley, hops, cheese, genetically modified petri dish pepperonnis, tomatoes and wheat. If you disagree with any of this you are clearly a fascist and should be relegated to drinking ultra light beer and made to live off discarded pizza crust.

If you really can't see that the Republicans are completely out of touch with reality, you're either brainwashed or dumb. This place is a conservative circlejerk.

Yes, because wanting a minimum standard of living for all of our citizens somehow prevents me from making decisions for myself.

Define "minimum standard of living".

You want one, who should provide it?

Are there any requirements/restrictions?

How does your dream provide for upward mobility?

If by some crazy chance Sanders wins the primary, I'm going to write an article about how the VN politics forum helped turn the tide in the south. And how flavol led the charge for Bernie in Florida.

Perhpas strive to improve your skill sets and become more marketable... Asking the govt to set your wage is not a good long term strategy

You say that as though I'm not.

I am not saying you are.. Nobody is going to build wealth off the minimum wage.. Basically. It means that that one has zero skills and that anyone can do that job and replaced easy. My first job in HS was for the minkum wage. It sucked and made me find a better job that paid more
