Bernie Sanders Thread

Heard him on CNN today. While I will probably be voting Clinton, I thought he had very good answers about foreign policy in that he would allow the US to still have a role but would make the Arab nations lead as it is primarily their responsibility anyways.

If his plan on college tuition is proven to be viable (Germany,Scandinavia have similar systems) then I think a tax on big wall street deals is ok if it means strengthening the education force of this nation.

Like I said in the past, I think he is running at the wrong time Clinton is too much of a sure thing (as close as we can get) and republicans still have enough fear from the older generation to kill anything openly socialist.

Also voted against Iraq and Patriot Act which means he may be able to hold that over Clinton/ Most republicans

He's awesome. I know he has a snowball's chance in Hell but I'm rooting for him. He's one of the "good guys." One of the few doing what he believes and not what the rich tell him to do.

If he were 10 years younger he'd have a really good shot.

That's the problem, people (especially older) see the word socialism and relate it to communism when in reality its a viable state when combined with democratic ideals.

He was probably born a bit ahead of his time, I saw a poll a year or two ago that stated that like 2\3 of older people had negative connotations toward socialism but less than half of 30 and under.

I myself have more center left views but would love to see a multi party system that incorporated far left, far right, center

Tea party, GOP, Libertarian, Democrat, Socialist
Think the US would function alot better or at least less divisively

What specifically has Hillary done to garner your vote? I'll hang up and listen..

That's probably because many people under thirty are accustomed to being fed, having their a$$ wiped for them, and assuming no responsibility for themselves.

First off I said probably, I agree with her social stances and believe she would be tougher on foreign issues and more moderate on economics than Sanders.
Reason why I was not definitive is that too little specifics have been announced

Or because the younger generation wasn't subjected to McCarthy type intimidation of communism (affecting socialism).

And please take out more voting bloc, raise the req to 30. Or maybe allow only landowners since responsibility is such a huge deal for you.

The landowner idea is a good one. I might get to vote 11 times.

What are her stances? Any of them, all she's given is the usual fight for middle class BS. Same crap the jack wagon in charge spewed.

Some of you guys might like this:

Gavinrara Fonara: Do you think that wiretapping of American citizens is necessary for security of America and Americans?

Bernie Sanders: I voted against the USA Patriot Act and voted against reauthorizing the USA Patriot Act. Obviously, terrorism is a serious threat to this country and we must do everything that we can to prevent attacks here and around the world. I believe strongly that we can protect our people without undermining our constitutional rights and I worry very very much about the huge attacks on privacy that we have seen in recent years — both from the government and from the private sector. I worry that we are moving toward an Orwellian society and this is something I will oppose as vigorously as I can.

That's like saying burger flippers are philanthropist.

They both get paid what people think they are worth.

But there was a ton of outrage when Hillary made $2 million per speech or whatever the number was.

Which is it? Is she worth $2 mil per speech then?

No outrage from this guy. I'm all for anyone getting what someone is willing to pay them.

The hypocrisy comes when you make $2mil a speech then try to act like your the average Jane. Even though you haven't been in a grocery store in over 20 years.

And I agree with you. My point is more that: 1.) Bernie doesn't charge these ridiculous fees. (He wouldn't make Clinton money but he could charge a lot more than he does.) and 2.) Every penny he makes on these speeches he donates to charity.

He doesn't charge those fees because no one would pay them. It's not out of the goodness of his heart.
