Let's take a vote.

One is 6'0 214 lbs

One is 5'8 175 lbs

One plays on the best defense in the land with playmakers all around him which makes him look even better.

One played on pretty bad defenses who never threw or ran his way, yet still played like a football Jesus.

Just a few points to ponder before choosing.

Well, I think both players have a nack for the ball but Mathieu is just on another level as far as being able to make huge impact plays, he creates chaos. That being said, Berry makes a better NFL player because he has a position I am not for sure Mathieu will have the same impact at the next level. I can tell you this, been watching this kid for the last 2 years and I have never seen anything like it. You have to understand, he was not a starter last year, yes, he played plenty but if you count the number of plays he has been involved in over the last 1.5 years and he is on a different level as far as impact and turnovers for the amount of plays he has actually been on the field.

Eric Berry will be a better solid NFL player, Mathieu just a terror at the college level, I really don't think there is anything like this before at the college level. I think Berry is a very good player.

Mathieu still needs work in the coverage area, but as a tackler and player maker you don't get much better.

Yeah, mathieu is a work in progress but probably will be lsu's next great safety and be on eb's level.

The honey badger is too small for safety, he will playing the nickel slot unless one of the other CBs goes down or out. Reid and Loston are sophmores, plus Vinson is a FR at safety. No need for the honey badger to be back there. Where they have him at works great, if Clailborne goes to the NFL then they might have to move him out to the corner full-time but I think they will let someone take over for that probably Jalen Collins.

Right now he plays CB or the nickel man on blitz.

I'd say they're even. Mathieu will be a top 5 NFL pick next year.

I don't know if he gets drafted that high, size and he has to become better in coverage, also pure speed might be lacking, but he is quick. I think he would be lucky to run in the low 4.5s, where as Peterson was in the 4.34 plus Peterson weight is about 45lbs more and about 4 inches taller.

.

Get a grip. He's very good, but not revolutionary.

I don't know what "revolutionary" is, I mean he isn't walking across water. As far as the time he has been on the field and the defensive impact and stats he has brought to the table I haven't seen anything like it.

Not bad for someone that nobody wanted.

Mathieu is prolly the best in college right now, but no way hes on berry's level. Berry was an all-around player, he could kill your RB, WR, or TE. I dont see mathieu taking on a 6'3 245 lb QB running full speed.

Not sure if you're serious.

1. Did you miss the part where EB is second all time in INT return yds (would've been first without playing LB senior year).

2. Berry was a Fresman AA and started his domination of Tebow in the Swamp that year among other things.

3. Youtube "Eric Berry highlights" and let me know how many plays pop up.

Hell yeah this is a biased post and hell yeah I meant for this to be a biased thread. But bias aside EB is, was, and forever will be better than TM and although it's close, it's really not. :loco:

Don't get me wrong Matthieu is a great player. But Berry is like a every ten year type of player. You don't see players as good as berry was and as versatile as berry was year in and year out.

Sucks to be ignorant. Berry got the most of Tebow more than any other defensive player he faced during his career at Florida which says a lot considering Tebow was one of the best college QBs this decade.

No need for personal insults because I don't share your opinion.

MSU's Jonathan Banks had 2 pick-6s against Tebow in the same game, so I give him the nod over Berry in terms of...um...dominating ole what's his name. :eek:lol:

Cool - can't count how many times Berry was able to cut down Tebow in the backfield at his size when Tebow was trying to leave the pocket and scramble for yards.. no other safety in the league could do that and linebackers would struggle as well.

Using the word "domination" is downright laughable...sorry.

Peyton Manning totally owned Danny Wuerffel.

I mean, look at their head-to-head stats when UF and UT played each other. :eek:lol:
