Beside Tobias and Chism, would you say any other Pearl recruit lived up to their hype

Who cares if the players developed... Bruce gets deep into the tournament with mediocre talent. Counzo will be lucky to win 10 games with a team Bruce would have probably been able to make the NIT with.

If i remember right we lost to these teams last year at home with Hopson and Harris and with Pearl coaching. C of C and Oakland. And pearl had alot better team.

I will take Chism and Prince every day. No question asked. Maybe my glue guy statement was misinterpreted. He did everything well, but he was not going to carry a team all by himself. That being said I will take a JP on every team. Still didn't like Maze and we would have made the final four if Scotty could shoot a free throw.

Maze was pretty good for the second half of his Senior year. I would take him in a heartbeat right now. Probably the second best pg we have had in the last 10 years.

One ft doesn't lose a whole game. Ref made a bad call on the other end that screwed us.

I will agree with the pretty good for the second half of his Senior year part. However saying he is the second best PG we have had in the last 10 years is not that great an accomplishment.

One free throw doesn't lose the game but "we got screwed" by a referee and his ONE call is a sound defense. I see where you are going. Bruce really didn't lie, the lighting was just bad in the picture.

You can't blame poor ole Bruce for that. He just simply forgot what his house looked like. Doesn't that happen to everybody

No matter if you hate or love the guy, as bad as UT was for so many years, you cant argue with 145–61 NCAA tourny every year with 2 sweet sixteens and an elite 8. And TBA finally opened up the black curtains for mens games. Also Bruce likes the poo-nanny

Tobias
Chism
Prince

That's basically it.

Oh, and he never found a point guard. The Ramar Smith experiment was a blast.

Ok. So we were a lot better with Hopson and Harris, but they are overrated.

Maymon (transfer)
McRae
Hopson (led team in scoring)
Goins
Maze

If you think Hopson turned out the way everybody thought he would, you just aren't paying attention. You know that he's the only top ten high school player from his class who wasn't in the NBA after two years. But it's all okay because he made it there after three. . . wait

Also, McRae hasn't turned into a consistent performer and Goins was terrible most of last year.

He did find a point guard. Not an elite point guard, but a good point guard who could run an offense. Had him running things well for about three months, and (surprise, surprise) it coincided with our deepest tourney run.

So what your saying is goins kept us from winning a lot of games last year?

You know as well as I do if Hopson would of went into the combine with the right attitude, he would of been drafted in the second round just on his athletic ability. He showed up being a retard and looked like a retard when he was not drafted.

Yes, Goins kept us from winning a lot of games, a familiar problem for most of the last five years.

And if you're claiming that Hopson should've been drafted on athletic ability alone, you're already admitting that his college career was disappointing. But if you need further convincing, look at his performance in tournament games (SEC or NCAA).

Did the transfers not play here?

I enjoyed watching Negedu play the short time he was here. He was easily a fan favorite. Would have been a star. At the time it was a huge get for Pearl.

They played here yeah - but he didn't exactly recruit them. JP would have been at Vandy if things had worked out the way he wanted.

Look at peyton manning vs. florida. I can do it too.

How is leading your team in points and I believe 3pt shooting % a dissapointment. If Goins is as bad as you say he is, could that not of affected your two best players in Tobias and Hopson?

This is all true, but we're talking about panning out, not having potential. While it's not Negedu's fault he didn't pan out, he still didn't pan out.

Manning threw for 325 yards and 2 TDs in his first game against Florida.

I seriously just can't get my ahead around anyone thinking Scotty Hopson lived up to expectations. Did he have some individual games in which he did? Sure. But he never turned into a consistent performer. He was expected to be dominant, night in and night out. And he wasn't.

Scotty Hopson didn't live up to his Highschool ranking. He lived up to his expectations of a college basket ball player. If you saw him his freshman year you would definitely know that he was waaaaayyyy over ranked. He had a shot that nearly touched the ceiling of TBA and couldn't handle the ball at all. Not the top 10 ranking that he should have been. IMO he should have been ranked somewhere between 50-75 coming out of HS.

Yeah, that's fine. He should've been ranked lower, and he might've lived up to appropriate expectations. But he didn't live up to what were the expectations, which was the question.
