Best and worst thing you’ve seen live at a Tennessee football game

The most heartbreaking thing I’ve seen was in 1990 when we were about to win over Notre Dame and we snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.
A close 2nd was the fumble vs Ga in 1980. (I’m old)

The best thing I’ve ever seen was the fumble caused by the hand of G-d vs Arkansas.
A close 2nd was the 35 point 1st quarter also Arkansas.

What about you?
What’s your best and worst?
Worst was seeing Inky Johnson get injured.
Best had to be beating Bama last year, I'd put that game above winning the Natty in '98

Wow, apparently I totally blocked that from my memory. That makes a lot of sense. Why does it seem like injuries like that occur in blowout games? What might have been.....
If my memory serves it happened right at the beginning of the game. My friend and I were scalping tickets and missed the first few minutes and when we got to our seats we found out about Webb’s injury.

Getting cussed like a dog after beating Candy in Nashville about 12 years ago. God himself brought in a person to stop a certain fight that was going to happen. I might have gotten my tail whopped but I was not going down like that. I was very respectful asking the guy to stop using the 4 letter words in front of my 11 year old son... I asked twice... he was in our face... It was a gnats tail away from going down. To hell with Vandy! They do not deserve to be in this conference any way!

Best was a tie. The Ark fumble in the rain yrs ago and the Ala. fg last year.

Worst would be the loss to LSU for the SEC championship

Couldn't have said it better. Commode-door fans are miserable gnats. Their vandie teams need to be in the OVC or a similar conference.

Worst by far is Georgia State. Best would have to be 2004 Florida
I don't know if it was just where I was mentally or what, but I honestly can't remember a game hurting as much as that 2015 Florida game. I know I said "are you fawking kidding me" 4 times a minute for 3 days.

I know, there are many games that should hurt worse, but ....my back just started hurting.

I have 2 worst Chuck Webb getting hurt and the Alabama game in Neyland that they won 9-6.
The best is getting to see the Vols play and seeing Jackie Walker be named Captain in the Orange and White game

Best: Bama last season. Kids don't know it now, but I think they'll appreciate being there one day.

Worst: Georgia State*.

*Honorable mention: the MCBs vs. NC and Purdue.

For me live was the hobb nail boot. Never been more disappointed with Chief, until the SECCG later that year. I started beating the fire Chief drum shortly afterwards. Was already beating the Randy drum. Fulmer was too faithful.

Worst: sitting through the entire North Texas State game in 1975

Best: King/Grunfeld 81-79 at a rowdy Stokely, over Phillips/Robey in 1977 (sorry I veered off of football but didn’t attend any of the great games at Neyland)

Honorable mention best: 2004 Florida. But I didn’t see the game winning field goal. I had left my seat just before it.

Best: beating uf. Ducks pull trucks.

Worst: there have been many. Uf 10-9 is a close second, and any of the 4th quarter meltdowns from Butch deserve recognition, but I’m gonna have to go with the pig Howard end zone fumble. That hurt.

Best: 2016 Florida

Worst was probably 2021 Ole Miss but I was also there when pig Howard fumbled into the end zone and that was gut wrenching.

THE BEST: I was in the student section in November 1959 when the Vols won the game by stopping Billy Cannon's Number 1 ranked LSU Tigers short on the two-point conversion attempt. That play made the cover of Sports Illustrated. Google will show it to you today!

I was also in the stands for two of the all-time worst game losing missed field goals! The miss in the last play in the Orange Bowl resulting in the loss to Oklahoma in January 1968! (In the final AP Poll we dropped from two to three)

The other was the final play miss against Bama in 1996 in Neyland. A very makeable 20 something yarder. I was close enough to see the anguish on Doug Dickey's face.
