Best Player UT missed out on getting?

Lol. I wonder what was the real reason he chose them over UT?

If I had to guess I would say it was the truck that Sean Tuhoy apparently bought him...either that or Collins Tuhoy! Haha. But hey I've been to both schools and enjoyed each of them, but would much rather him have been a Vol!

Damn Kathy Bates telling him about bodies buried under the field!

The remarks of her character aren't entirely inaccurate. Unless they have been repatriated, there are significant collections of skeletal material in the Anthropology Department, which is located in South Stadium Hall. My office, while attending UT's graduate program in anthropology, was 225 South Stadium Hall, so I actually spent more time in Neyland Stadium than the football players. Technically, Kathy Bates' character was alluding to the "Body Farm," where research is conducted on decomposition rates, in conjunction with UT's Forensic Anthropology program.

Had an engineering GTA tell me that the body farm was no longer under Neyland.

Then don't reply. it's nice just to have a little fun and try to keep your mind off the losses sometimes, while at the same time learning a little SEC and Vol history one might not have known about. And apparently several others seemed to have felt the same way as me. Just wanted to talk a little football from the good ol days. No harm in that. But what can you do, there seems to be a hater in almost every thread nowadays.

Tajh Boyd is wildly overrated by the UT fan base.

Clearly an incredible upgrade over our current QBs, but we've missed on much better players.

Agree. It just stands out more because it's recent, our current situation at QB, and the fact that we had him committed.

You are correct. The Body Farm is an "open air" site, the purpose of which is to monitor how bodies decompose naturally when exposed to the elements. The skeletal collections housed in the Anthropology Dept. are separate from the Body Farm per se.

Quite simply, Dewey was our first passing quarterback.

If my memory isn't failing me, he got his chance as a result of an injury or maybe even 2 (my family's closest friends had a son playing for UT at the time).

He told me when Dewey Warren first stepped into the huddle, he looked at everyone and said "buckle up boys, things are going to be different from now on...we're going topside".

My memory isn't absolutely clear on this point either but I believe that you are correct. As these stats indicate (1965 Tennessee Volunteers Stats | College Football at Sports-Reference.com), there was some flip-flopping at the position in 1965. Dewey wound up as the leading passer that year, but Charlie Fulton also saw significant playing time at quarterback. Charlie wound up as the leading ball carrier, in terms of carries, and played almost exclusively at running back in 1966 and again lead the team in rushing, both in yardage and carries (1966 Tennessee Volunteers Stats | College Football at Sports-Reference.com).

I don't remember if Charlie Fulton was injured in 1967, but he finished third in rushing that year behind Walter Chadwick and Richard Pickens (1967 Tennessee Volunteers Stats | College Football at Sports-Reference.com). Warren also missed some time due to injury that year. Bubba Wyche and, to a lesser degree, Fulton filled in at the position while Dewey was out.

Not the best, but it sure sucked to see a former commit, Michael Taylor, play well against us this weekend. He'd be a nice Sr. addition on the field now.

You nailed it

What stinks @that is that the year after Steve was recruited, we changed to Dickey, who could have possibly done what above ouster was saying. He was already heard to Gainesville when our new coach arrived.
