Best Whiskey

I tried the stuff from the Gatlinburg retail place (Smoky Mtn Moonshine?) and wasn't that impressed. Expensive also. Is there a legal option you recommend?

That Smoky Mountain sh!t is a freakin joke! Whoever put out that garbage should be put in jail.

The Popcorn Sutton is good. Troy & Sons is also good.

If you're mixing it with anything other than a couple of ice cubes or a splash of water, save yourself the money and buy Old Crow, Four Roses, Mr. Boston, etc.

I've been a Jack/Coke or Crown/Coke kind of guy for the past couple of years in college but I would like to start ditching the coke and drinking on the rocks. I tried this weekend with Maker's and it wasn't too bad. Just gotta keep doing it I guess...

Always been a fan of Maker's but I always just grabbed Jack because of it being a Tennessee whiskey. I've realized I don't really care and I'd rather have something I enjoy more than be "loyal" to a Tennessee brand.

I know it's been talked about alot in this thread, but I don't want to read through all the posts.

This week is my 21st bday so I'm going to get myself a bday present so I need some recomendations for some whiskey. I'm more of a beer guy but I like whiskey and when I have some, I drink it (Usually Jack) neat.

Jack is good but I wanted to try something different. I don't like super cheap stuff like green label evan williams. Got some from a friend and drank straight; it was gross.

COST: Any handle <= jack or maybe a couple fifths added up to ~$45-50 is what I'm looking to get. Looking for value

Possible four roses? (I've seen that listed alot here)

Four Roses small batch is solid.

Buffalo Trace is a really good value.

W.L. Weller is good drinking too.

VALUE! I want something that tastes as good as possible for the amount of money.

I'm not going to chug it to get plastered if that's what you're asking. I want it to taste good. I understand that what I get won't be as smooth as a $600 bottle of scotch, but also don't want horse piss just because it has alcohol in it. Does that answer your question?

I love Buffalo Trace. Don't care for Dickel #12 too much. Haven't tried Bulleit or Four roses.
