Better Call Saul

As of right now I did not like this episode. Weakest one so far in the series unless there are some hidden details I missed. I was guessing Jimmy/Saul/Gene would break bad and eliminate the Taxi Driver. Just was silly at times and not up to BB or BCS standards IMO.

I guess we are seeing that he hasn't changed but not my favorite episode. Somebody change my mind. (My guess is something goes wrong with this escapade in upcoming episodes?) Is it established that Kim was from Nebraska or did I just dream this up in my mind?

She is.

The part I really liked last night is when Jimmy/Saul/Gene said to the 2 guys "I need to hear you say it." Sounded exactly like what Mike would say.
Heard it but missed the relevance. Unforgivable when you consider Mike uttered it two episodes prior.

As I understand it, BB ends in 2010. This episode said Martinez was a freshman, which was also 2010. Texas is the first game mentioned. That game happened October 16....does it make sense this all is happening a few short months after the conclusion of BB?

Also, it's snowing in Nebraska at the beginning of the episode. Does that make sense? Did the Carol Burnett intro actually happen after the initial meeting with Jerry Gurgitch, and wasn't chronological?

The entire series has been bad, but “ Nippy “
reached a new low.
The only reason I continue to watch is because I
have watched every episode and I want to see if
it ever gets any better. I don’t hold out much hope.

Huskers played Oklahoma State the next week (10/23/2010) and went to the B10 the next season as Frank chatted about. Texas was unranked and beat the #5 Huskers (10/16/2010) (VN knows how that feels) and Frank was a righteously peeved husker fan. I think you have the timeline nailed although it did not snow during that week in Omaha.

Snow is probably not impossible for Omaha in October but that did not happen in 2010 so that was probably artistic license so cranky Carol could hook up with Jimmy/Saul/Gene.

What kind of person puts 50+ hrs into a show they think has been entirely bad? Lol

That is how great BB was, BCS is methadone to heroin

So users think methadone is "entirely" bad? Not familiar.

I'm also confused at the Nippy comment? He didn't like the ruse? He didn't like that he named the dog that for the ruse?

It was a brilliant scam because the one guy in Omaha who knows who Gene is now has his fate tied to Saul.

Agree. I thought it was fantastic.

Any other series and I’d chalk this one up to throwaway episode. With these creators it illuminated that the main character is who he is…whether a grifter, lawyer or Cinnabon manager.

So you didn’t like the characters introduced (Kim, Nacho,Lalo) and their storylines ? You didn’t like the two episodes this year where Nacho and Lalo were eliminated ? Both which rivaled any of the best episodes in BB IMO. You didn’t like the expanded roles of Hector and Mike. Mikes storyline was very good from watching him being an upright moral retired cop and transcend to the bad side for money. Sounds like you had some predisposition to not like this show and are trolling. It is the best series on TV the last 5 years. We can’t force you not to post here but no one will miss you if you don’t.

Just watched this week's episode. It wasn't bad, I enjoyed it, but I can see why some wouldn't. It sucks the guy they re cast as Jeff looks absolutely nothing like the original Jeff. I see that has already confused some people. It was hilarious seeing Gene have a fake mental break down, just like Walt did to Hank.

To me this episode showed that Gene isn't 100% ready to stop being "slipping Jimmy" and I'm not so sure its not going to come back to bite him. It was cool to get a Walter White reference, and it was great seeing Jerry from PnR basically playing the same character just with a different job.

Never forget when Jerry woke the dead here.

How can we get a Walter and Jessee cameo if the rest is set in Gene's timeline? Walter is dead. They'll have to flash back at some point. Right?
That was what I was hinting at… surely they wouldn’t pull the “Walter is alive” stuff. Even though I would personally love that, because it would open up the door to a possible new season of BB.

No that would completely devalue his story in Breaking Bad and the great ending to it. Plus in the movie El Camino they mention on the news that he is dead.

I really liked the stuff with Chuck, too.
