Herein lies one of several issues why the divide is massive and unity going forward is a unicorn.
I remember the uproar several months ago when Trump mentioned "opening the country back up", the idea was he didn't have the authority to do that as the president. Which I agree with, he shouldn't.
The point that was never raised was the fact that he didn't shut it down to begin with. That was left up to each state and local leaders to decide as it should have been. For the most part, the more lockdown states and cities suffered more economically than those that didnt.
It was mentioned above but covid was easy for Joe to campaign on, all he need to say was listen to the science. He didn't have to explain the balance between it and the economy/unemployment. The idea that you could go heavy handed against covid and still be good on the other is a farce.
