Not sure I'd die on that "Covid caused his myocarditis hill" - many causes of myocarditis including viruses but were all causes ruled out, or was it just fashionable to go ahead and claim "COVID caused this?" Were tests done to rule out staph - a common pathogen in athletes? I'm just asking....

From Myocarditis - Symptoms and causes.

Often, the cause of myocarditis isn't identified. Potential causes are many, but the likelihood of developing myocarditis is rare. Potential causes include:

  • Viruses. Many viruses are commonly associated with myocarditis, including the viruses that cause the common cold (adenovirus); COVID-19; hepatitis B and C; parvovirus, which causes a mild rash, usually in children (fifth disease); and herpes simplex virus.
Gastrointestinal infections (echoviruses), mononucleosis (Epstein-Barr virus) and German measles (rubella) also can cause myocarditis. It's also common in people with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.
  • Bacteria. Numerous bacteria can cause myocarditis, including staphylococcus, streptococcus, the bacterium that causes diphtheria and the tick-borne bacterium responsible for Lyme disease.

Which study and why is it flawed?

This is the study that presumably caused the concern:

https://jamanetwork.com/journals/ca...16/jamacardiology_puntmann_2020_oi_200057.pdf

I’m not sure I would call it flawed but more like non-applicable. The youngest subject in the study was 45, all had Covid symptoms; 60% were diagnosed with myocarditis. I’m not a cardiologist but have seen some criticisms of their diagnoses criteria. Most MD’s agree that trying to extrapolate findings from a group of middle age/older adults back to athletes in their late teens/early 20’s is not possible.

This is the condition fueling the Big 10’s decisions to postpone football
I know as many threads as possible have to get the doom and gloom Covid predictions, no football in 2020, and the like inserted into them but maybe you can limit those posts to threads where they are on topic.

While the optics are bad, his son is an adult and free to decide to play or not on his own.
I would hope that my son, who really knows me, would trust my judgement and follow my lead. If nothing else he'd understand the optics and how it'd make me look.....but then again his son might have wanted to get as far away as possible.

My favorite part of this is canceling ten 3 to 4 hour games but still conducting 20 hours of practice per week. The virus must be able to tell the difference between practice and games will only infect players/damage hearts during games.

This virus is extremely smart. California has no problem with various leftist groups taking to the streets by the thousands even encouraging them to do so, but this very day threatened church goers with jail if they attend in numbers greater than 10. So the virus knows and understands not to attack antifa but to really go after people sitting in pews worshiping and attaching itself to them. It's science.,

AHHHHH But the hospital where he is treated will say "yes it may be one of these things you say that has caused his heart problem, but it was activated by his bout of C-19." (Bye the way have you wondered about the name C-19?? What of the other 18????)

Discovered in 2019, hence COVID-19.

Another theory is------Certificate of Vaccination ID (chip) 19 equals Artificial Intelligence. This thing began as the Coronavirus. Remember? Then evolved to Covid19. Why is the ?. Why not just Corona19 ? Everything has a reason & purpose. SCIENCE is the gathering of all data and Ideas then Debating.

Call me whatever; sure wish you could to my face (but you wouldn't) SO, just hang around and view the developments. And if you are not TOO brainwashed; ask why we need a Vaccine for something that In Tennessee you are 60% more likely to Die in a Car accident than from IT. Sheep to the slaughter.
