Hindsight is 20/20 but Scotty was warned about this and he didn't listen. He got big eyed and put himself in this position. The toughest part has just begun

Poor ben hansborough has been called out often lol.

coaching changes cause guys in, pretty much, most college sports to jump ship too....think it's a bit of an emotional-decision kinda thing

He'll be in the d league, or Europe. He still has a shot to eventually make it, but he has to work a lot harder than he did here.

It appears that quiet a few foreign players were drafted but they likely won't play in the NBA next season. Some teams drafted these players, knowing full well that they won't see these players this season. They obtained the rights to them though.
With the foreign players not showing up at NBA training camps, this will give un-drafted players an opportunity of actually making a team.
Maybe some of these un-drafted players will make a team anyway.

Not when they are barely getting drafted by a few projections. Not when those players are told they aren't ready yet. I just don't feel bad for him not getting drafted. I was rooting for him but I don't feel bad for him because this was his choice and it didn't pan out. I wish him luck though because he is a vol.

yeah, alot of these guys not drafted are still going to get the chance to try to make one of the teams (/dleague/whatever)

In a way you can't feel sorry for him because he was warned about this. Also, him not being able to dribble, and lazy look on the court didn't help his chances any!

I think that this should be a humbling experience for Scotty. This should provide motivation to work harder and polish and perfect his skills to get to the league. Whatever the case, I'll be pulling for him.

Good luck to Scotty at the free agent camps this summer, hopefully he'll make a roster this year if there's an NBA season. Probably NBDL, though.

....i dont think i ever said you should....but alot of these college kids do these kinds of things following coaching changes, etc

not saying it was the right move, at all; alot of these kids though seem to make impulsive, emotion-driven decisions when situations like those come up (there's a ton of kids in football who will jump ship for pro a year early after coaching changes, as well as what seems an often massive transfer of lesser starters and backups the year or two after a firing....)

it was clearly a poor choice in this situation though

We are down to 9 more selections remaining in the draft. I hope Hopson has a back up plan to go to. Israel, Turkey, Russia, NBA developmental league, Lithuania, etc.
I feel that even though his "Handler's" were telling him to declare for the draft, Pearl could have talked some sense in to Scotty.
Had he returned for his senior season, he would have been the feature player on the team. He would have stood a better chance of getting drafted, had he returned for his senior season.
Now he has no NBA contract and no college degree!!!!

Pearl would/could not keep him in school. As for your second point, he was the feature player last season. How did that turn out? I forgot.

I was in a bar and the draft was on with no sound - every time I looked up the highlights included Tennessee but I couldn't tell if it was because of a UT player or not. Once it was some dude from Oakland and another was a UK player.

yeah, that seems to happen a bit...most of Joakim Noah's highlights a bit back were from a game where UF got blown out in Knoxville (& Durant a single one from a Tenn game).....especially seems to happen in the NFL draft

they found a clip of marshawn lynch to show as what seemed a highlight from that 2006 UT-Cal game (though he did little to nothing that game)
