Big Surprise Draft Day for Scotty Hopson

I don't know that it was a completely emotional, irrational decision. Isn't it true that this year's draft is relatively weak, due to many big players worrying about the potential NBA lockout, and next year's is supposed to be a lot tougher? Even Kentucky players stayed this year. This year might have been his one big chance.

All the same, I wish he'd stayed for a year and matured.

Anyone with any degree of Basketball knowledge knew Hopson wasn't a 1st round draft pick, even in a weak draft. People who thought / said otherwise is clueless. Now he can drop his head and pout like he did during his time on the hill when things didn't go his way. I won't miss his whiny ass one little bit. He got exactly what he deserved.

It is truly getting more difficult to determine draft status in the NBA due to the increase of European players. I just wish the people who are "advising" these kids are soon seen as what they are...in it for themselves. Really sad for Hopson. No matter your thoughts on his decision, he was a Vol and deserves our support.

Best of luck to him.

And we wonder why we don't get more top recruits in just about anything. I liked Scotty while he was here. Sure he had times when he pouted, but it's not like you won't see anyone do it in the NBA. Not justifying it, just saying he's not the first, the last, or the only person to do it. The guy is talented and with a little work can probably get a shot at the NBA. Whatever he does, I wish him luck.

Does Hopson have any Eligibility left for the RTPL ?
Maybe when he was talking about being a lottery pick he was actually talking about the RTPL.
I should feel bad for him but I cant because he made the choice to stay in the draft.

This was his best shot. He would not have even been on the radar in next years draft.

I knew that Scotty would not be drafted. MY 1st post was an attempt at humor. :p I guess it failed.:cray: I hope the best for Scotty. I hope this might wake him up, nothing else has. I believe he has the talent to play in the NBA. The question he has alway had is does he have the will [heart] to play. Maybe this disappointment will fire him up and make him play harder causing him to someday land in the NBA. I hope so. He is a good kid.

Scotty showed such flashes, then disappear when things went south. Hopefully he'll pick up the mental toughness to accompany his amazing talents. As much as I loathe NBA, I wish S. Hopson the best.

thru 9 picks in the first round big surprise, Scotty not picked yet. :eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol:

Why and what's funny about that? He's still a Vol why not show some class and wish the best for him? I don't understand the humor and desire to see him fail. Obviously the ones doing this have no kids and have serious life issues. He could have gone almost anywhere and chose to be a Vol.Truely pathetic lives some live.He will play somewhere over seas and make more doing that than most dissing him.

I think it's now official.

He's a bigger waste of God-given talent than Vincent Yarbrough. I never thought Yarbrough could be trumped, but Scottie did it.

Doubt its all his fault. When you have a coach that babies you what does that say to Scotty? He needed a coach to get in his ass.( nothing gay)

Hopson's apparently not even good enough to be mentioned with these "losers in draft day" who didn't get selected:

Loser: Prospects who left college too early

UCLA forward Tyler Honeycutt, Georgia forward Travis Leslie, Michigan guard Darius Morris, Kentucky guard DeAndre Liggins and Kansas guard Josh Selby all left school hoping to be taken in the first round. None of them were. Boston College guard Reggie Jackson also looked bad by shunning teams for workouts and interviews because he was promised to be selected 24th overall by the Oklahoma City Thunder. Wonder if he could have been drafted higher if he took part in the draft process?
