Bigfoot/Sasquatch/Forest People in Tennessee

My point is he is saying because one doctor, who I'm putting forth as a scientific person, claims he saw one, then that's "big".

But he ignores the scores of scientific people, with their PhDs, who have researched this and say Bigfoot doesn't exist.

Researched and was unable to prove existence, not proved doesn't exist. there's new species found everyday. There have been a species of man sized, nocturnal apes discovered somewhere in Southeast Asia. Can't remember the species but it could be looked up. However, to say, researched and said didn't exist, isn't a factual statement. Absence of proof isn't proof of absence.

I work with someone who has seen a black panther here. I believe it was a discussion point recently and there were multiple panther sightings.

I am not a hunter - I would have to ask around with regard to the mountain lions. I think there are big cats in East Tennessee - there is actually a Cherokee Death Cat - that the Mountain Monster hunters pursued one episode.

Here is my panther story. I get weird looks when I tell it.

I live in Rogersville in east tenn. At the edge of my field right before it goes into the woods something long and black was laying on the ground.

There were 9 or so deer in the field watching it. 3 bucks and some doe with younger deer.

I ran inside and got my scoped rifle and family members.

The cat was in a stalking position and the bucks were walking slowly towards it stomping front legs and bobbing there horns up and down.

The body of the cat was as long as a good sized dog, but the tail was as long as it's own body.

I was torn about shooting the cat, because I figured I could get in trouble but there is a neighborhood on the backside of my property where children could be an easy meal.

The cat finally decided the odds weren't in his favor and walked off into the woods.

I called the TWRA office and left a message about what I saw. I never received a visit or phone call from anyone.

I clarified in a later post, but the fact remains, there is no solid evidence of the existence of a Bigfoot.

And some Bowling Green doctor saying he saw one isn't evidence.

Panthers (Catamounts, Cougars and/or Mountain Lions) do exist in Tennessee.

Sasquatch ( Bigfoot, Yeti and/or Forest people) only exist in your head.

That is the difference.

Try contacting Rod Wilks. (Not sure what the phone # is for Mt. Olympus). Word is he has a couple pet squatch's.

I've seen plenty of beaver in the area, but I'm still searching for the elusive silver beaver.

Anyone had luck bagging one of those ?

No.... But I had a pair of skunks ease up on me one night when I wasn't ready.

How many black panthers have you seen in Tennessee?

None. I have not seen a cougar in person, but on my trail cam outside of Big South Fork. I got the same response from the federal wildlife agents (about the cougar) at Cross Creek near Cumberland City when I saw wild hogs on their property. They both said they don't exist. After pressing them, I got the "they don't exist" (fingers quotations and all). Hogs are in the same category as Cougars in their opinion- they are not listed as a big game animal because the government does not know how to regulate them in the areas I was hunting ( BSF for hogs and deer along with deer at Cross Creeks). They exist, and wildlife agents know it. But until they know how to manage them in their specific region, they won't be acknowledged. I have also personally seen a sow bear with cubs off of Hwy 100 in Hickman county. Animals like the hogs (which are becoming more common then people want), bear (which are more common in the midstate area than people know) and cougars ( are not common but are here)are around but until each region/unit in the state can figure out how to manage the animals, they will not be acknowledged.

This is what bothers me on the black mountain lion thing. I've seen a mountain lion in east tn in the wild. And I've seen one a trail can caught about 20 minutes from my house. I'm 100% on that I got a plan view of it and I can easily tell the difference of a bobcat and mountain lion. But I always here people say they've seen a large black one before. But there's never, not once been confirmed findings of a black mountain lion. There are black jaguars and black leopards but no black Mtn lions. So either the black Mtn lion has eluded science to this point, there are black jaguars in east tn or people are realllllly misidentifying black house cats.

A panther is a mountan lion, but a "black panther" is a melanistic jaguar so you are absolutely correct. They did range at least as far north as Texas though, so maybe they made it a bit further.

They swear there's none here in Connecticut despite having one roadkilled every year or so. The last one supposedly wandered over from south dakota.

I'm pretty sure I saw a black panther in South Knoxville 10 years ago. I was probably 50 yards away and in broad daylight in a secluded area that borders the river. I thought it was a dog at first until I watched it move and noticed the long tail.

My mother and her siblings got pinned in a cotton trailer once. The black cat was circling the trailer. My uncle kept throwing things at it.
This was in west tennessee, back in the 60's

My grandfather was told by tennessee wildlife that mt lions didn't exist in west Tennessee either. Right after they wrote him a ticket for killing one. (This was in the 70's)

That is the funny part. Cougars don't exist ( because management has not been researched in Tennessee) but if you kill one, you will be punished to the extent of the law.

Yeah. I remember seeing the ticket he got when I was a child. I believe (it's been a long time) was about 500 bucks. He claimed self defense. It charged at him while deer hunting.

Well if you are going to get technical, they would say there is no solid evidence they exist.

Claims he did. Claims. No proof at all, just a claim.

I am not saying they exist,.........

as I have never seen one but the question intrigues me ...

but these two statements do not match.... A statement saying there is no solid proof something exist is FAR FROM scores doing actual research and saying they don't exist

I'm pretty sure my second post clarified what my first post was supposed to say.
