Bigfoot/Sasquatch/Forest People in Tennessee

Not a whole lot ,nope. Enough I guess but it's been years since I rode.

None of the critters you listed are going to jump on a horse. The only one that would, is the mt lion and he better be starving to death to do so. You don't jump on something that weighs 5 times what you do and can bite clean through bone and muscle.

A pack of wolves will take on elk, moose and caribou but won't attack a horse? I've read stories of horses being attacked. I can honesty say I've never read a story of a horse being killed but hey, a massive animal was attacked in an area known for predator activity and it must be Bigfoot. I'm starting to believe.

Plus, there is not enough in the article. The horse could have been sick.... Wounded.... Predators are animals that seek the easiest food source possible and regularly attack the weakest member (youngest or oldest depending on its health). I don't know what it is, but saying it's not a normal predator in an area where predator activity is normal is naive imo.

I've seen coyotes bring down a 1200 lb cow. A man I used to rent land from payed me to kill coyotes because they were killing his cows. I cant remember one attacking a horse but they often target deer. I wonder if there are wolves in that area? People read stories like that and if they want to believe its some unknown creature like a Bigfoot then that's where their mind will take them.

Also, a mountain lion will absolutely attack a horse.

There is no mention of a "pack" of anything.

"A" large animal.

That 1200 pound cow must have been sick. Coyotes don't go after critters that can fight back.

I've seen a mule beat a mountain lion to death.

Cats just don't jump on horses.

Grass Valley Woman’s Show Horse Mauled In Rare Mountain Lion Attack « CBS Sacramento

Rare but it happens. And this was a heathy horse. The article , from MI, does not say what condition the horse was in and I agree it is not normal, but it happens. I've read it in field and stream, outdoor life and plenty of books.

That's just not true, at least not all the time. I've seen perfectly healthy cows with their tails nearly torn off, ankles tore up, from coyotes trying to drag them down. They would hunt them in packs and if they could get the cow off its feet the others would attack. This area did have a high number of coyotes and if there were calves they always went for them first. We killed several before we finally got them cleared off this mans land. Coyotes are far smarter than most people realize, nothing like hunting deer.

Mules are completely different, farmers put them with their livestock to protect them from coyotes.

Coyotes are extremely smart . But they get even worse when they mate with domestics. When a domestic starts running with them aand coys are bread, you have some trouble on your hands.

I grew up on s farm. We maintained 150-200 head of cows. I've seen coyotes come after calves. And I've seen mama cows stomp coyotes in the mud over it.

Now we just had a 500 pound feral hog get killed. It was killing and eating baby calves and messing up the mama cows. It took 10 dogs and 5 hunters to catch it and kill it. It took three dogs with it.

huge tusk on it.

They are crazy smart. We killed a couple but didn't do any real damage until I got some tips from an old man I hog hunted with in South GA. We started using recorded animal in distress sounds like a baby rabbit screaming. We learned that they would never come in unless they could circle the sound first, if they caught your scent they were gone. They would never just walk out into a field. They always stopped and surveyed the area first. Also, if there was a road or other obstacle preventing them from circling that would never come in. He taught us a few other tricks that were a bit gory but we finally got them cleared out of that area.

One you killed I assume?

Yes sir. 30yds quartering away with a .308. Round hit vitals and lodged in left front shoulder. I dug the round out once I cleaned him and I still have it. The big problem was that I was 1 mile from the boat. Gutting him was easy.....strapping him to my climbing harness so I could pull him the mile to the boat was an experience!

Damn.

I cheat. I bring the atv. :)

I've never found a good way to cook them. No matter what I do they taste terrible.

BSF is only horses. ATV on multi use trails but I don't use trails very often. I get away from people.
I grind em. Make a ton of sausage. I grilled the ribs even after soaking them and they tasted fine. But you wore out your molars trying to chew. They are tough boogers.

Low and slow. Cut some of the meat in about three inch chunks. Lay in a baking pan, season and cover the top with bacon. Bake at 300 for three hours, take a couple forks and tear it all up to make sandwiches, add BBQ sauce. This also works great for deer meat. Enjoy!

Thanks!

I'll give this a shot.
