Damn.

I cheat. I bring the atv. :)

I've never found a good way to cook them. No matter what I do they taste terrible.

I went on a paid hog hunt in NC. When I shot my hog the guide got to the hog quick and (next part is gross) milked him and cut his testicles off.

He said you had to do that quick on a male hog or the meat would taste terrible.

Yeah, I've heard this before. Fortunately all we have killed have been sows.

I know guys that go and catch them. Feed them out on corn to get the taste back.

I find it hilarious that the wild hog population exploded in TN and spread to nearly every county when they were kill on sight / no limit "big game". Leave it to Tennesseans to breed the things and spread them across the state so they can hunt them! TWRA should have seen that one coming.

They are not spread that wide but wide enough to be a problem. The Feds too are crazy. I was drawn for a bow hunt in Cross Creeks with a 4 point minimum (on one side) buck only hunt. Took a jon boat out of Cumberland City up the river to the backside of CCWA (crazy story in itself considering it was 4 grown men in a Jon boat with a 20 hp engine pulling another jon boat with our gear and bows in it) and walked in. Setup in a draw between 2 fields where we had seen some decent basket 8 pointers on camera. Low and behold..... Hogs walk by. I had thought I had heard them before back there but never had I seen them. Talked to the wildlife officer about it and he said there are no hogs in CC. I said ....."hmmmm we just saw 3". He said "nope. You didn't . We (while doing air quotes)don't have hogs in CC." He then proceeded to tell us off the record that if there "were" hogs on property that the U.S. Government does not know how to regulate them so if there "were" hogs, they could be properly managed.

Hogs will eventually be a big problem in TN. I've seen farmers fields in GA wrecked by hogs. Dog hunters kept relocating hogs to create new less pressured hunting areas and were over and over warned by TWRA before shutting down hog hunting. Not a good move by TWRA and they will eventually have a real problem on their hands.

Seen plenty of hogs in Monroe County near Sweetwater and up near Brush Mountain. This was all 5 or more years ago. Hogs have been in TN for a while. We have them here in MS but the gators help control the hog population. Gators love some hogs.

Probably so. I about had to fight the thing. Oddly enough my daughter found a depression in the trail and yelled out "bigfoot!" immediately. It was just where someone had dislodged a rock but it made a passable footprint I guess.

West central. South of fort smith about 15 miles.

Greenwood
I saw a pic today of one killed last year about 6 miles south of Greenwood and it was about 250lbs

They trapped it, and the guys soon shot it with a 30-30. Walked back to get a 4wheeler and when he got back to the cage it was standing up

He had left the rifle back at the truck and had to shoot it twice between the eyes with a .22 pistol to kill it
