Bigger bust? Ryan Leaf or Jamarcus Russell?

Oh and another thing to add... you say Russell putting up better numbers makes him better?

Can you even name a single player that was on the Chargers offense besides Leaf? I'm pretty sure the Raiders gave Russell a 50 million dollar wide receiver and a 60 million dollar tackle.

That's because the Raiders are stupid. DHB isn't a 50 mil player on any other team in the NFL. And if you're suggesting Russell had a better team around him, you really haven't been paying attention.

So I have a question... Jarmarcus Russell is better(or less of a bust) because he put up better numbers than Ryan Leaf.

So Vinny Testerverde is better than Joe Montana? Threw for more yards and touchdowns.

Russell was a drug addict.

Russell didn't work out and ate a crap load of food.

Russell was given more money.

Russell was surrounded with more talent.

I will judge plenty of other things. I've never seen anyone do so little for 39 million aside from winning the lottery or having a rich family member die.

Go ahead. I don't care what you judge. Russell was a better player and a better teammate. Leaf was awful at both, so he's the bust.

Wow... you're basically a jerk.

You have no answer and cry that I don't agree with you. I mean, you're the one saying Russell is better because he had better numbers. That's the logic you chose to use. In your opinion Testeverde must be better than Montana because of the numbers.

I get it. Russell is your homeboy. Good for you.

Who's crying?

I've already said that I don't give a damn about all the random stupid judgments you make. The only issues that really matter here are performance on the field and in the locker room. Period. Russell was better at both. I don't really care whether you agree with me; I'm right. Not my fault you used a ridiculous comparison.

Russell. Russell never really proved himself in college. People fell in love with him because he could throw it far.

You're seriously a dick. Anyone can say I'm right, you're wrong.

You don't even take into consideration the talent they had around them. You couldn't name a single player from the Chargers offense.

Anyways... have fun being a bandwagon and cheering for two schools you could never get into.

You just said it again. Testeverde put up better numbers than Montana on the field. You never said anything about winning.

You're seriously stupid.

Clearly anyone can, because you're saying it when you're completely wrong.

I know about Natrone Means, Freddie Jones, etc. I just try not to waste too much of my time debating absurd, clearly uninformed statements. Saying the Chargers were worse than the recent Raider teams qualifies.

Oh look, you're wrong again. What a surprise!

No, he didn't.

Ryan Leaf won four games. Ever.

So now you bring up wins... hilarious. Back track much?

Let's see...

Testeverde's 46,233 yards to Montana's 40,551 yards.

Testeverde's 275 touchdowns thrown to Montana's 273.

Did you or did you not say Russell is better than Leaf because he had better numbers on the field?

I am done with this. You're full of yourself and fail at logic in every sense.

And all it took was googling their roster. Congrats.

I'm out of here. Have fun with yourself.

Oh and since you love stats so much, the Chargers had a worse record than the Raiders. Wouldn't that make them worse?

This was seriously my last response because you just try to bend things to fit your argument. Take it easy bandwagon fan.

People tend to leave when they're wrong. But keep being a dramaqueen if it makes you feel better.

You brought up wins, genius.

How many picks did the great Vinny throw?

I'd have to go with Leaf because anybody who'd watched Russell play in college knew he was too boneheaded to be a successful pro QB. You could count on him making two stupid plays a game to keep the other team in it. I don't see how anyone can be the biggest bust ever when it was obvious beforehand that he'd be a failure. Al Davis deserves as much blame as Russell.

In contrast, there was close to 100 percent consensus that Leaf would be a good pro QB. A lot of of the media at the time scoffed at the Colts for taking Manning instead.

I think Leaf had the single greatest line for any QB ever: 1-15, 4 yards, 2 INT, 3 fumbles. Even Russell never managed anything like that, did he?

Agreed. There was a pretty good feeling that Al Davis was more nuts than usual when he drafted a mediocre QB from LSU. Ryan Leaf was supposed to be on par with a guy that's ended up rewriting NFL record books. It's going to be a while before someone passes him up.

If I owned a NFL franchise, I wouldn't want either on my team.

Even with all the scouts, tryouts, combines, and whatever else is used to rate draft prospects, the draft is mostly a crap shoot. Calling someone a "can't miss" player is an easy way to make yourself look bad.

I say Leaf by a hair, but I see eye to eye with a lot of Orange_Pearl's points. I think a better way to put it is Russell has put less effort into his game than possibly any other first round pick ever. He truly has not given a single bit of care to football since he got drafted, and Leaf can at least say more than that.
