Bigger than beating Kansas

I do agree that it's stupid. Why destroy what is working well by making a confusing format?
It doesn't really affect Maui's real format. It just gives some small schools a chance to grab a payday and get some exempt games. The Guardians Classic and a couple of other events already do that.

I'm pretty sure. I read up on it a few months back, but it didn't really make sense. The article stated three teams would play a mainland doubleheader while a fourth team played a single game, all on the mainland. It stated that twelve teams total are supposed to be involved with the other four selected at a later date.

right, this is what their website says.

vol fans if you believe in a higher power,i guess this is the way to say it for all religions or none .then we all need to ask for tobias to decide to take name from draft and return for another year so vols will have a go to scorer ,with hopson gone and a need for more scoreing ,an improvement in off season harris could and would probally get 20 -28 pts a game ,8-10 rebs and be a first team all american and then be a top 5 pick in the draft

Nice pompous corrections in the thread from a position of wrong

Hey man... do you not notice that you are CONSTANTLY having to defend yourself????

Doesn't that give you a hint at all.... probably not.

Beating Michigan in basketball will not, in any way, be bigger than beating a school like Kansas when we had just lost players to suspension.

If Darius Morris stays in the draft, it'll be two unranked teams playing for the right to get annihilated in the second round. I could see how that would be big news.

Ah there's that pick me up spirit.....as Barney Fife would say..."Bless his heart"

Gary Parrish assumes Morris will be back next season (most projections have him in the second round) and puts them almost as high as Hat had Virginia Tech last season when I laughed at him and told him he was wrong and he said I was an idiot...and then they looked incredible until they lost in the second round of the NIT in a shocker.

Unlike Hat, Gary is paid for his basketball predictions.

Poythress and lots of others who matter for 2012 will be checking out the Vols when they play on TV from the Islands.

By the way, Hat ripped Pearl over and over for leaving during the summer to coach in Israel. Is he unaware that Martin is leaving during the summer to coach in China?

I wonder if Hat would be as pessimistic about next year's team if we'd signed Kruger instead of Martin?
I'd ask but he scares me.

Fans will respond if the team plays well and wins. If they don't, they won't. I don't think the excitement level, even with good results, will be quite what it was with Bruce, who is a fun and charismatic guy. Win and the fans will come.

Depends on whether or not Lon would have signed Grooms and Arent at UT. If so, yes. If not, I think the current roster would be a monumental challenge for any coach.

I thought they seed Maui. If so, I would guess:

1- Duke
2/3 - Memphis/ Kansas (not sure which order)
4- Michigan
5- UCLA
6- G'town
7- TN
8- Chaminade

I think Lon finally got his dream job and will get the respect he deserves in a couple of years.

I think Kruger already gets plenty of respect from people that matter. The only concern I'd have is that he's starting to get some age on him. His assistants will need to handle a great deal of the legwork in recruiting.

He's sort of in a situation like Peyton was before he won his super bowl. Jerks in the media that say he can't win the big ones.
I think he'll win conference championships at O and hopefully a NC or 2 before he retires.

No way that preseason tourney win over a so-so Michigan team is better than the Vols' 2nd-3rd best win all time.

Solid effort on the thread though.

I think 2nd-3rd best all time is going far.

It was, at the very best, the 2nd biggest win that year.

Bill Self is laughing at the 's' on the end of 'championship'.
