Bigger than we realize to get Vic

Reading some of his quotes he was Cincy bound so I'm not shocked he committed. Like Vol Doc said, the fact we are even talking about competing with Vandy for recruits is a shame.

Anytime you have more than one University in state you're going to compete whether you want to or not. The bright side of CBJ is him saying we were going to win the state in recruiting. I watched a replay of the '86 Sugar Bowl a few nights ago and we had a ton of starters from in state.

Vandy is currently competing with everyone for recruits. James Franklin can recruit well. We will be battling Vandy for a lot of instate recruits until Franklin is gone.

Yeah, it is not like Vandy pulled a huge upset there. If the 2012 Vols and Vandy played five times, Vandy would have won four of them. As we stand here today, they are better than us. Plain and simple.

I really don't believe this. We had a much more talented team.

I agree with sparty. For football, build our fence at Jackson.

I agree with you. Leave Memphis for basketball. I wished we built a fence from around Jackson years ago. I know of two pretty good LBs we let get away from that area. Patrick Willis and D. Hightower.

On top of UT having the worst defense in their history. Literally the worst and statistics back that up. Plus UT quit against Vandy! Didn't everyone notice that? Hel, it got UT's coach fired!!!

Vic is a heck of a midstate recruit that can create momentum. Middle TN has got a buttload of talent right now

Yes, losing those two Brentwood Academy kids this year....one to Southern Cal and a quarterback to Florida of all places....we need to stop that!

In years past Auburn used to get all the BA players. I dont think UT can survive with instate talent alone, but it could do a lot worse, and has recently.

we don't need Memphis for football. We just don't. I know someone will list a bunch of players, but we don't need Memphis hs football recruits. From Jackson over is fine. Basketball, is fine. I think our time and money would be better invested into areas within a 3-4 hr radius, and we would get better ball players. jmo, of course

Been saying this for YEARS...waste our money over in Memphis recruiting (except for two or three a year)...

Yeah I agree...never saw a team just quit like ours did against and average team like Vandy...Really hope CBJ restores some pride next season and we play until the whistle blows, especially on defense...and hopefully we can learn how to take angles on defense and stop those back breaking long runs...

One good year, and all of a sudden Vandy is a powerhouse. :eek:lol:

We just barely beat them two years ago, and they waxed our bikini area this year. So that makes them a bigger powerhouse than us rigtht now. Untill we put them back in their place. the above statement is true... like or not. I believe we will turn the tables soon. I hope so... I want us to be back where we belong. Go Vols.:good!:

I thought I read where Tennessee high school coaches stated that they had not seen Tennessee recruiters in a while which leads me to believe not only Dooley was a terrible coach, he lacked recruiting skills.

Lewisburg is not the Jackson area, ftr. Willis didn't "get away". We got Daniel Brooks and Chris Donald. See how that works?

Did we let Chad Pennington and Randall Cobb get away? Prolly not.

You people are the ones that are sad. It's not like were competing with the old vandy recruits. If they are competing for 4 star recruits (which they are) it's natural that we would be competing against them unless we didn't want any 4 star recruits. What you people should be saying is that it's a shame that vandy isn't the same old vandy right now. Give them time though....they will be back at the bottom before you know it.

UT shouldn't have to compete with Vanderbilt for recruits. Sad.

True we shouldn't. But we have let them get a few blue chippers here from instate lately so any time we get one that's a good thing. I'd be sick if Alabama Ole Miss or Vandy had landed him!

The old vandy no, but they are not the doormat anymore, we took there place, when you are the laughing stock of college football, you get them where you can. GO VOLS:)

Yes candy is stii the doormat...they just haven't had as many people stomping on them lately.

UT needs to not get blown out by Vandy for your statement to become relevant. And maybe winning more games than Vandy would be required. Hell, Vandy has 7 SEC wins in the past 2 years..UT has 2.....

Just because Vanderbilt has one or two good recruiting years and one good year on the field, and Tennessee has several bad years on the field doesn't erase 75 years of dominance of Tennessee over Vanderbilt. They've got a long way to go before they catch Tennessee In any form or fashion
