I chose South Carolina because I want to avenge the crap from last year.... Really they are all important. UGA will be big just because of who they are. (Obviously assuming they are still dominant.) If UT is on fire going into the UGA game it will become the biggest.

Depends on what you mean by “biggest”?
Alabama is our longest and most hated rival.
Florida is our second biggest rival and it sets the tone as our first SEC game each year.
However, Georgia is our biggest and most important recruiting area. And, they are now the top “dog” in the conference and the nation and the team we must beat to win a conference title.
But that may change in 2024 when we will probably no longer have divisions and may not play them or UF every year.

South Carolina is big because of just what happened last year. Yea our defense didn’t show up but Hooker went down for the season you had Beamer yelling at our sideline late in the game and talking trash all week. It def made their season and ruined our playoff chances so September 30th when they come to Knoxville should be circled as a big revenge and payback game and I think Heupel knows it. I hope he has the opportunity to put 70 on them and completely embarrass them for 60 minutes no holds barred I’m talking run that score up till the last seconds go off the clock.

Since 2005 we have 9 wins against them and they have exactly 9 against us so it’s dead even and I would say it’s a rivalry and since 2010 it’s been a run of three year win streaks for both teams, SC 2010-12. UT 2013-15 then back to SC 2016-2018 then us 2019-2021 then right on cue SC snaps the streak with a win in 22. South Carolina has beaten us more than Kentucky and Vandy in the last 20 years so they should be considered a rival right now.

2005 - 2021 was also arguably one of the worst stretches of football in UT football history and South Carolina still only managed to break even with us. Meanwhile Georgia, Bama, and Florida absolutely blasted us most years. I totally get wanting revenge from last year's game and I will be disappointed and concerned if we don't run them this season, but I'm not ready to see them as a firmly planted rival along with GA, Bama, and FL yet. That's just me though.

I really liked the team’s mentality last season: the most important game on the schedule is the one we play this Saturday. So by that token, the most important game right now: Virginia.

It's bama every year for me. Ga can try and claim they are the new bama all they want but fact is they are not. Bama is still the standard and bama is the most important game imo. Ga is second.

And who has had a top 2 top 3 at worst recruiting class every year since 2009? Not Ga. Who has been in nearly every playoffs and national championship since 2009? Not GA who has 6 nattys since 2009? Not Ga. Seems like bama is still the standard. I'll agree it's shifting for sure and Saban seems to be slipping but until the shift completes bama is still king imo.
