why do people assume we’re going to do well in the portal? Wishful thinking? We can’t risk getting caught paying under the table until the book is closed on the current investigation, our NIL game is purportedly weak and probably not going to get significantly better until business men are convinced that they can actually make money off player endorsements, and we have no realistic shot at a championship in the next couple of seasons. All the things that the best transfers are looking for, we can’t offer. The most impactful transfer from last cycle was Pruitt’s doing and Hoops didn’t even want to start him until Milton completely scratched his own name from the top of the board. So what’s the reason to think that we’re gonna be saved by the portal this cycle?

Oh, I don't know, maybe:
- 8-5 vs 3-7
- AD and HC trending favorably vs no coach & AD
- Evidence of portal success:
> Starting QB
> Back-up QB
> Starting WR
> Starting LB (before he got hurt)
> DT in regular rotation
> DE in regular rotation
> Starting PK

So you're saying we attracted all those guys last year despite the chaos and negative trend, but we won't be able to get anyone this year? Sorry, that doesn't pass a logic test. Think your BVS is in overdrive.

Yeah, they're part of our defense, which I said desperately needs help. I wasn't talking about just the DL. Our entire defense needs more bodies. So does our OL.

1a. Quarterback- with only 2 QBs on scholarship we have to take at least 2 this class. With uncertainty of Milton staying and HH going pro we may try to take 3.

1b. Defensive end- we are desperately in need of a game changing pass rusher. I think we take 1 more DE in the class

2. Linebacker- we need a run stopper to shore up the middle of the defense. I think we take 2 more in this class.

3. TE- I think we try to take 1

4. Defensive backs- we may lose 3 starters in the secondary. I think we take 2

5. DT- we may lose Butter and Bunphus. I think we take 2

We have 4 committed. I don’t know how many more we can take with all the needs on defense.

We may only have 1 Scholarship QB on roster at seasons end depending on if Milton stays. HH may declare for the draft leaving no scholarship QBs.

So I think I will leave QB #1

You can backcount. Just not forward count signing spots at-will like you used to be able to. But not agreeing with other guy's numbers either.

As I said before, if we get the spots back from the 4 players we let out of their NLI’s we can sign up to 29 this year. However, I think we will either let those go toward future scholarship reductions or carry them over to the next class where we have much better relationships with recruits. Just my opinion.

I think this is the closest based on who we’re in on. It will change when coaches start getting fired. Staff really needs to load up on CBs or a spot we have depth at will quickly become an issue. LB & DE are going to be a huge concern. This needs to be a 3 HS/ 1Transfer class at both LB & DE. Josephs and Pearce could really help this class. It looks like Bumphus is redshirting to get that 5th year for when Butler is gone. I have concerns about the OT prospects in this class but we’ll see what the staff can do with them.

I for one don’t want to hear about coaches being fired unless it’s other team’s coaches being fired .

I do think they will want another OL or 2 from the portal and 2 of the commits will look elsewhere. Just my 2 cents but I think we need a couple OL that can contribute right away.
