He left early, possible 1st round pick. If he came back do you think he would suck like Riggs did his senior year?

The point is, basing performances off one year of production can be said about many players across the country.. When you say he had only one year of 1,000 yards.. And Meachem has one great year as well.. Warriors comment holds some water.

I still wouldnt call the J-Train a bust. he may not have lived up to the hype, but he wasnt a bust either.

He was probably the worst short-yardage back I have ever seen. How many times did we bring him in at first and goal situations and then have to settle for a field goal? Many times.

he didn't suck his senior year

He was a huge part of our victory against LSU. He was also pretty much the sole offensive reason we should have beaten Bama. No one seems to remember that his final run that year was a long run to the left that got us down to about the four yard line. I think our stellar offense followed that up with a delay of game penalty and a false start penalty. Long story short, we ended up fumbling into the endzone, blowing our chance to win.

I don't remember it that well, but it couldn't have been that bad. He had 10 TD's his soph. season, and 8 the next year.

Miami 2002, Cedric Houston gets us to the 3 yard line. Enter Jabari Davis. Three plays later, enter James Wilhoit for 3 points.

UK 2004, I think we had a fourth down on the 1 yard line. Enter Jabari Davis. Enter UK offense.

He was a master of getting stuffed at the line. I wouldn't be surprised if his ypc average for his last two years was under 1.0.

Like I said, I don't remember it that well. I've pretty much blocked out the Davis/Houston/Riggs era (with the exception of 2004 of course), but 18 TD's in 2 years is pretty good.

I don't care how many TDs he scored, if UT needed one inch to win a football game and brought Jabari Davis in at RB, I'd turn the TV off right then, because I already know we aren't going to get it.

Well if they needed an inch, I would hope they would just sneak it. :)

Bust - Heath Benedict, Laron Harris, Greg Jones

Surprise - Marvin Mitchell

Heath Benedict made Little All American at Newberry and will likely get drafted or get an NFL tryout. Things didn't work out here, but he could make some cash. I thought Greg Jones lost a loved one and left the team. I hardly call these two a bust. LaRon Harris was a 3 star guy, so not that disappointed about him.

Jones lost his sister (I think) plus she was third trimester. His family was driving to/from a game (Alabama?) when the accident occurred. He basically lost two family members. No fault that he couldn't handle the emotional stress as a 20 or 21 year old. Greg Jones doesn't belong anywhere near this list. He gets a pass.

Constantin Ritzmann.

He was serviceable and worked his way into the NFL, so not a "bust"...he just never seemed to live up to the hype. With a nickname like "The Germanator", you'd think he would have been a beast.

Davis played and had some big scores against UF. My def of a bust is Owens or Darden or Brooks, guys that never see the field.

Let's say he didnt completely live up to the hype.

Considering he was ranked higher than Kevin Jones, Cadillac Williams, Cedric Benson (all first round picks), I would consider him a bust...

LaRon Harris was a 4 star that could not keep his weight down. He was a bust.

I would call him a bust. I think he transfered to either Texas Tech or A&M and didn't really do well there either.

how easily some forget......he was the starting QB for a&m when they knocked off Kansas State in the Big 12 championship game. Leaving Tennessee as the lone unbeaten team, and helping to erase any controversy on who should be in the NC game.....thanks Brandon!!!!

biggest bust: I remember reading alot about a guy named Ronnie Pillow several years back....was supposed to be a stud running back

surprise: Heath Shuler...I remember everyone being so upset about Andy Kelly leaving and I had never even heard of Shuler. Regardless of his pro career, he did great things here.

Ronnie was a great back, I played against him when I was at Franklin. We had a back named Fred Lane who ended up starting for the Carolina Panthers. Ronnie got hurt and was big back and tried to make him a versitile FB. When he gained weight, he wasnt the same.
