Bama is still no. 1 on my list, but my age may have more to do with that than anything....i grew up in the 80's and early 90's when we always lost to Bama, so i grew up, as many other Vol fans did, witha particular distaste for Alabama....and it will never wain.

But, you can't discount the rivalries with UGA and UF since the introduction of the divisional format. it means more from championship standpoint to beat both of them, yes, but it still feels good to beat Bama just for grins.

And i think you'll find that the younger the fan is, the more they will lean toward UF as our cheif rival.

For me:
1. bama
2. UF
3. UGA
4. Still Auburn, though we don't play them every year anymore.

Who ever we play that weekend is our biggest rival. But if i had to put them in order Bama, Florida, then Georgia.

I remember the years in the 90's when Bama dominated. Bad period. We have since turned that around. Still love to kick their *ss but FL is the hotter current rivalry. We have been trading wins and losses for a while. Historically Bama wins but FL is currently on top. This is swayed for me by the fact I live in central FL and have to put up with the fans. So, for me the Gator games means more.

There's definitely a generation gap on this question. I think the cutoff age is somewhere between 20-25 for people who probably view Florida as a bigger rival than Alabama.
Well, I guess I am the exception that proves this rule. I lived throught the Bama dominance years. I sat through the 9-6 ugly loss in '90 and I was overjoyed when we finally ended the streak.

However, with the division system the way it is plus Florida owning us for most of the '90's made me vote for them. Georgia is creeping up.

Hell, I wish all three would lose every game!

only because it make smore difference in SEC championship...and given current status...UGA is the most important game, today. So i would pick UGA right now. UF would be Second and Bama would be 3rd.

I consider Bama our biggest rival, but would rather beat UF or UGA over Bama.

Some historical data:

Record against the teams (might be dated a year or two):

Vs. Bama (37-44-7)
Vs. Florida (19-16)
Vs. GA (18-15)

Bama is the only one that has beaten us more than we have beaten them. (Auburn also has an edge of 21-25).

89 games against Bama compared to 35 against UF and 33 against UGA.

SEC Champs.

Bama has the most and UT is second.

The series has been characterized by streaks for both teams. Bama won the first 8 to 10 and since then it's been even. Some of us remember the 2 big Bama streaks which ended in 1982 and 1995.

Overtime, Bama is clearly UT's biggest rival.

The only reason I say I'd rather see the Vols beat UF and UGA is because they are in the East.

another thing to consider about Florida....Spurrier vs. Fulmer was a big part of that rivalry...we all hated Spurrier....i found i didn't have the same kind of hatred for them when zook was there, still hated them, but it was different...same with meyer....

But with bama...they were ALWAYS good no matter who was coaching, and they ALWAYS were in the mix for SEC titles and they ALWAYS rested thier lorals on all the NC's they one....they were ALWAYS a thorn in our side...UF was a blip on the radar screen compared to Bama....jmo. Bryant, Perkins, Curry, Stallings all beat us there...it wasn't necessarily one coach that stuck in our side, it was merely the site of those God awful crimson helments and that big fat elephant that got the blood boiling.

Since 1914, we're 36-36-6 against Bama.

We were 1-8-1 the first 10 games against Bama.

Then we won 5 out of the next 6

Then we lost or tied 5 out of 6

Then we won 3 in a row

Then we lost or tied 5 out of the next 6

Then we won or tied the next 6

The we won or tied 5 of the next 6 again

Then we lost or tied 5 of the next 6

Then we won 4 in a row

Then we lost 11 in a row

Then we won 4 in a row

Then we lost 9 in a row (give us a w in 93 for Bama forfeit)

Then we won 7 in a row

And in the last 4 games, we have 2 wins sandwiched by 2 losses.

Bigorange and hohefenvol....
thanks...i just really do not like Alabama...two of the worst feelings i've ever had were after the 93 game that we tied and the 90 game we lost 9-6....tore our hearts out at the time...i hated knowing that Bama knew they could beat us at that time, and we always hoped we could...made me sick.

which is why that 5 ot game in 03 was so great. 80,000 crimson colored deflated hearts. priceless.

UT-BAMA will always be the best rival. I was at the 82 game during the world's fair, still gives me chills just thinking about that game.

Without a doubt it's Bama although I think South Carolina could be gaining quickly since we are all such big Stevie fans..lol

With Alabama down the last few years, I think it lost its luster.

Now, I think it is back and has over-taken UF.

I still vote Bama (having lived (barely) through the "dark years"). However, with the conference division, Florida is creeping up. Anyone who was at the games from the past 4-5 years can verify that the energy is undeniable.

let's not be mistaken, picking Bama over Florida as your cheif rival is like picking a Benz over a BMW as your favorite car...there's not much drop off...
