Man...the coffee hadn't hit this morning and I read the guy's name in the thread title as "Billy Connolly" and read the prediction in a Scottish-accented voice. Dude is a talented actor and comedian for sure (one of my favorites in terms of stand-up), but...sports predictions too?

South Carolina has to live off of the Tennessee & Clemson wins forever. Other than the few Spurrier years, South Carolina has no football history. Their only claim to fame was George Rogers Heisman Trophy.
This century we are pretty comparable. We are 159-117 and they are 156-120.

This is a 10+ win team. We will absolutely beat the hell out of SC jr. So I’m not sure why anybody is scared of that game. The only two obstacles are Bama and Georgia.
Not scared, but odds are in favor of us tripping up once vs the slew of:

Tamu
UF
USCjr
UK
Mizzou

Even if we are 2 TD favorites, on average, vs them, that means odds are we drop one+.

I also wonder how ahead we are getting of ourselves. Yes we went 10-2 last year but let's not forget we had a generational QB performance that was Heisman level...along with out FIRST EVER Biletnikoff winner. That's asking a ton to replace. Defense would need to jump up from top-40 to top-20. Hope so...

So you're saying we are just slightly better than South Carolina during the WORST decade and a half of our program's history (2008-2020), which happens to correspond somewhat closely to the BEST decade and a half of theirs (2000-2015, Holtz and Spurrier).

Somehow, that doesn't sing that the two programs are comparable. :)

Go Vols!

No, I'm telling you in the lifetimes of current college students we have about the same record.

You're telling us both things. You only want to acknowledge the one that seems to put USCe in the better light. Why that is ... why you and others here seem so fixated on talking the gamecocks up ... I can't explain.

In 1998, do you think recruits cared how good Ole Miss was from 1950-75? That's just how little they care about pre-2000 stuff now. Those of us who lived through the 90's hold it near and dear to our hearts but it's pretty much irrelevant otherwise at this point. We did more for ourselves last year than we have in years. Hopefully, Heupel can build on that, but it's just a fact that in these kids' lifetimes there isn't much space between South Carolina and Tennessee's programs.
