Looks like he's going to be our next Governor. Congrats to him. He seems like the best man for the job during these times.

what is corker 2.0? corker is a senator. he was never the governor of Tennessee. voting yes and no on legislation is different than running a state.

How about Don Sundquist 2.0?

Haslam vs. McWherter is the Tennessee version of McCain vs. Obama. Just another garbage lesser of two evils election. As is 3rd District Congress in the Chattanooga area.

I understand your concern over Haslam, but if you've spent any time in Knoxville, and I assume you have, you have to admit that he has done some pretty impressive things since becoming mayor. So far, he's been a very effective mayor, and I have reason to believe he'll be the same governor.

I agree with you completely. Haslam bought this election, plus Wamp and Ramsey split the conservative vote. Haslam will beat McWherter by double digits, I hope Haslam turns out to be a great Governor. As of right now I will not vote for him.

I've been trying to tell people that for weeks on here and gave up.

That said, I have gained a lot of respect for Ramsey and lost all I had for Wamp during the last week or so of this election.

I'm sure you know a whole lot about Don Sundquist. What were you like 14 when he left office? Bill Haslam is nothing like Don Sundquist, maybe Corker but not Sundquist. And I agree with golfballs, a successful businessman running the state as Governor is different than going to Washington to vote on legislation.

You mean the guy who said in public that Islam is a cult? The guy who said that Islamic Mosques should have restrictions placed on where they are built? Yeah, I'm bummed out that guy didn't win.

At least you guys had much better choices than we do here in GA. As bad as it is here, I'm tempted to take my 4 year old and let him pick.

I didn't know he said all of that.

I've gained even more respect for him now. Thanks for sharing this info.

I've made a few visits to Chattanooga in the past month and a half or so. What in the hell is that train wreck?

Do you have numbers on the D side? I'm curious if any of that nefarious Dem crossover took place. I know some areas had little D competition. Just curious if the R boost could be attributed to that.

Anyone who considers himself/herself a conservative but voted for Wamp really needs to consider their methods for informing themselves or their core "conservative" principles. JMO

I was looking at his numbers from each county. I seriously thought he'd get more votes than he did in the college towns...the students let me down again.

I think the only number is all of this that truly shocked me was that Basil got 21 early votes in Blount County. People serious enough to vote early actually voted for him. That has astounded me since about 8:30 last night.

They voted early and often? Or they voted and then got out of town....

Absolutely this.

Way too many conservatives only care about religion, and turn a blind eye to the actual issues.
