First time caller and might be my only post ever, but what about bill O’Brien to come in and replace Pruitt? I feel like after what he was able to do with penn state on the verge of the death penalty he could actually stand toe to toe with Saban. Especially with the right coordinators. Feel free to tear up my opinion as vol nation loves to.

As a coach, I think he'd be a great get! As a recruiter, I'm admittedly curious about him just because of how bad of a GM he was in Houston. They did him wrong by not having a true GM in there, but some of his personnel decisions made me wonder if he is able to identify talent.

He single handedly destroyed the Texans. Would prefer an offensive mastermind come here.
Explain to me what the Texans had before he got there? CBO was there for six full seasons, and five of them were winning seasons. He took them from a 2-14 Kubiak team to winning 9 games the next season. He was an awful GM, sure! But you can't argue that he's a bad football coach.

That's exactly what I was thinking. This guy will be lucky if he EVER sees a head coaching job ANYWHERE ever again. That Hopkins trade was one of the dumbest personnel decisions of the last two decades, and that will stick with him for the rest of his career.

I think bill O’Brien the GM got him fired as a coach because he was too focused on fixing the monstrosity of an o line they had. He finished in the top 50 in both of his recruiting classes amongst the crap that was going on at penn state. I think that was quite a feat.

He was good at Penn State...but of course no head coach has failed in the NFL and come back and had success at the college level........oh wait...

In 2018 they had Watson and Hopkins on O. Watt, Clowney, and Mathieu on D. They lost in the first round. Pass.

These posts make it seem like we are even worse than the crappy reality of our situation. I expect the Love Story theme to play at any moment in this thread.

Would be an improvement. Not my first choice, but we can certainly (and probably will) do worse.

He got a lot of kids to come to State when they didn’t have to. He’d stabilize the program but I doubt he’d get us anything note worthy

LOL! So winning his division and earning the third seed in the NFL playoffs is something we scoff at around here? Cool cool cool cool.
Wasn't that the year they started like 0-4 and still won 11 regular season games? That requires a coach that won't let his team become demoralized.
You do realize we haven't won 10 games since 2007, right? But CBO is a "pass?" Interesting.

He’d be a good hire. Unfortunately if Fulmer is the one Doing the hiring, we’re probably going to end up with another NFL HC that’s about to be fired.

If you're the GM + coach and make those moves then it absolutely makes you a bad coach. They've done better without him this season. If we follow your logic then Butch was a good coach. He didn't have anything left from Dooley and took is to 3 winning seasons.
