I never knew that. I always thought an at bat was anytime you stood at the plate with a bat, no matter the outcome of the at bat.

also say a player is batting, and the count is 3-2...and a runner is thrown out trying to steal, that is not an AB either

It would count as a plate appearance, I guess
I have not seen that stat in eons, but I don't pay much attention sometimes, especially when the Reds are down, which is pretty much always hahahaha

At bats. That’s why sacrifices, walks, etc don’t count against the batter

no, a fielder's choice would be 0-1
edit: or if batter reaches base on an error it is 0-1

On base percentage is the ratio of plate appearances to getting to first base (via hit, walk, or hbp).
